XP: All in One vs Convertible Car Seat...

Also posted in 6-9 months...

Seriously going crazy over this and I feel like it's unwarranted!

Trying to decide if the extra $100 is worth it to buy an "All in One" car seat that goes from rear to front to booster OR save that $100 towards a booster x number of years in the future and just get a rear to front convertible at this point?

Can any 2nd time moms weigh in on this?  How did the fabric and condition of the car seat withstand time?  Will i be ready to throw this thing off a bridge in three years and RUN out to get a new booster?  How's the size on them?  I drive a 4 door Jeep Wrangler.

Here are two i'm looking at...

Convertible - https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=13320148&searchURL=false

I would love some input on this!   I included links to BRU, but have done my research on amazon and albee baby as well.  We have gift cards to BRU so i'll prob do a price match through them when we decide!

TIA!!!!!

  • Not worth it to me. High back boasters are less than 100 and by the time a kids been in a carseat from the time they're one until they're 6 or 7 it's going to be expired and very worn out. The new recommendations are 7 or 70lbs for a booster.

  • We opted for a convertible for the same reasons mentioned by the pp.  I just can't see the fabric holding up that many years and they could also end up changing the laws in the next couple of years or something like that to require some new-fangled safety features on boosters, and then you'd be stuck with an old model that doesn't have all the latest safety features.

  • We have a convertible for ds1 that will be ds2's. We are getting an all in 3 for ds1. It is forward facing only, but turns into a high back booster, and then regular booster. The only thing I don't like about the convertible is that it is so tall. I can't see lo in the mirror or pass things back. We keep ours in the middle (the only place it will fit rear facing in our CRV)  and it makes it hard to see out the back right window. I'm keeping him in his infant car seat as long as possible.
  • yeah i was leaning towards the rear to front only as well... thanks ladies for your input!  super appreciated!
  • Thanks for asking this I have been debating this as well.

FYI: Amazon is having a 20% off sale on much of it's baby gear/car seats.  You need to have amazon Mom and be the primary on an Amazon Prime subscription.
