M still refuses to eat veggies. Like, flat out refuses. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. It's a common problem, right? But, he will gobble down veggie purees. So, I still buy them. The little gerber containers. Tonight, as a side dish, he ate a container of green beans and a container of sweet potatoes, and then even asked for more. If I put regular green beans in front of him, they would go untouched (or be thrown across the room).
What oh what do I do? And, is it okay that he continues to get his veggies from baby purees? He does take a daily vitamin...
Re: So... is this ok?
Haha, that's kind of my question. Do I just let him eat purees since it's giving him the veggie intake? Or do I cut that off at some point, even if he still refuses to eat a real vegetable?
That's another thing... it's not even the pouches that he's eating. He's flat out eating the jarred baby food purees.
Also, if anyone is interested, we got some of the reusable pouches. Both boys use them when we are out. They have saved us tons of money.
These ideas - putting purees in other food, mixing in little pieces of veggies, and consistently trying/offering veggies in a multitude of forms - sound like really wise ones to me!
DS eats at least one puree pouch per day, everyday. Yeah, I'd say it's ok. And if it's not, then I am right there with you being wrong, lol.
eta- we buy Plum organic when they're 20 for $20 at BRU. They also do Earth's Best at 15 for $15 sometimes.
Eh. Not any different than eating applesauce or yogurt then right? At least he's developing good spoon using skills?
I' m sure it's fine. In the grand scheme of ings, they are still very little. I'm sure he won't be eating purees at ten years old.
Get some Elmo vinyl stickers!
Like the pp said - continue to use it - but put pieces of the real veggie in it.
God luck
Exactly this! Except R eats about 3-4 of them a day...he asks for them all the time! Corn & sweet potato fries are really the only veggies he'll eat, so I'm OK with it. When we have veggies w/ dinner, which sadly probably isn't at often as it should be, we offer them. It's hit or miss whether or not he'll eat them. So yeah, I'm in the "It's OK" camp!
My DD still eats vegie purees. I just discussed this at my last pedi visit and she said keep offering her the veggies but if she eats the purees go for it. Basically her take is the most purest form of the food is the best so I think purees are pretty close.
I gave DD some carrot shavings and a carrot puree and told her they were the same thing and she laughed so hard at me, she thought that was the funniest thing. She would dip the carrot shaving in the carrot puree and laugh...but still wouldn't eat the carrot shaving.
