August 2013 Moms

Avoiding Certain Dates?

 Disclaimer:

#1: We all know we can't control our delivery date.

#2: We all want healthy babies, would do nothing to endanger that, and agree that is the top priority.

#3: No time should be an inconvenient time to have a baby.

Ok, now beyond what is listed above. Are you hoping for a certain delivery date? Avoiding the creepy uncle's birthday? Hoping to hold out long enough for the company picnic?

My husband is the chairman of our county fair. We should've held off a month trying because we're due 10 days after the end of the fair.  If I go in labor, he will be with me, no hesitations. A large amount of his work is done in the month before the fair, so if he has to leave, the co-chairman can make any decisions that are needed. I just hope that it doesn't come down to that.

Re: Avoiding Certain Dates?

  • Nope, not at all. Other than not going like a month early, when we'll hopefully be out of state at a family reunion (assuming I'm cleared to go).

My parents' anniversary is a few days before my EDD, and I think it would actually be kind of cute for it to be that day. And my childhood bff's bday is a few weeks later, although I think too much later for that to happen.

  • I would be okay with my baby coming later than my due date (8/8/13) because then I would get more time off from work (my school year doesn't start until the 20th).  My husband keeps joking that baby is going to come early in July, which is when I am born. I always have a "birthday month" and not just 1 birthday.  He says that baby is going to make me share my month :)

    Me: 34  DH: 35
    Married: July 2009
BFP: November 2012 after 2 years of TTC     DS born August 2013
    Diagnosed with PCOS April 2016
3 months of trigger shot with timed intercourse BFN x3
    First IUI: 9/17/16            BFP: 9/30/16              EDD: 6/11/17

  • Only date we are hoping to avoid is DS birthday with is the 18th and LO according to LMP would be due the 20th. LO will be a RCS so hopefully we will avoid that. We want them to have their own day.

  • DD is a 4th of July baby and DH is an Xmas baby, so it would be kind of cool to have this LO on a holiday too.  Due date is 8/11.  My nephews bday is 8/6 and my folks anniversary is 8/15.

How many years will they be married?

I meant to add 'cool' dates to deliver.

I knew two people who had babies on my birthday last year and one the year before.

I just hope everyone takes this as the superficial, silly, GTKY question it was meant to be.

  • My due date is 4 days after my moms birthday. I really hope my baby does not have the same birthday. I am very close with my mom and when the day comes that she is no longer with us, I feel it would be very hard for me to celebrate my child's birthday on the day that I used to celebrate my mothers birthday on.

My due date is the Aug 12th and I would much rather go into labor at the earliest healthy and safe point. For example, August 1st. I work in the school system so I am hoping to miss as little of the beginning of the new school year as possible because I am paranoid I am not going to have a job to go back to when they find out I won't be there in September.

  • Hoping I don't go 3 weeks early like last time. I will be in a full session of classes and the end of term doesn't end until July so I will be pushing it really really close.

  • And some randomness for birthdates in my family:

Grandparents were married December 23rd. They had a daughter on their anniversary. That daughter had a son on that day.

(same) Grandparents share a birthday, Grandpa is one year older.

My parents share a birthday, Dad is  one year older.

  • Not avoiding. My angel baby was due 8/25/2012 and my due date for this LO is 8/20/2013.

It would be freaking awesome if this little one comes 5 days later...

They do!! My daughter is born November 23rd and mine is December 1st and she completely overshadows it. I don't mind though. She's worth it.

  • We have a few August birthday dates and anniversary.  My only hope if we go into labor it's when my husband is home although most likely I will be scheduled though.
  • I don't care when the baby is born, although if I go 3 weeks early, I would like to avoid July, 8..which is my DSs birthday.  I would like them to have their "own" day.

  • Any day will be a great day, of course. I'm due August 1 and would love the babe to come a couple days early on my birthday, July 30. That would be THE best present ever. Plus, I wouldn't have to celebrate my birthday anymore. Haha

  • Well, we have two July babies so I'm REALLY hoping this one is born in August! According to LMP my due date is Aug 1st. However, going by ovulation it's the 6th. I'll be having a scheduled c/s so I'm going to push for August 1st, but it won't be the end of the world if that doesn't happen. July will just become a more expensive birthday month than it already is!!' ;)
  • Full term sounds awesome this time, so prefferably Sept. 2nd, but I'll be happy if I make it past Aug 19th (38 weeks).

  • I feel you on this. My son was a may baby. And i was hoping to avoid half the month bc i wanted him to have his own day. But between birthdays, mothers day, and all these other random days, it was hard to avoid, but my baby boy managed to have his own day. Good luck. :D
  • My due "week is between July 31August 7 so I'm keeping my FX for a July baby. Cousins bday is the 5th, sisters is the 8th, SIL is the 11th another cousin is the 12th...TOO MANY August babies in our clan. My little sis' is July 4th but that's in the beginning of the month so no biggie shed be ecstatic c:

  • Nope, no issues at all with this one. With DS, I was due on June 30th. Everyone and their brother kept saying, "oh my gosh!!! Maybe you'll have a firecracker baby" like it was the most novel friggin thing ever. Drove me nuts!!! Anyway, lo and behold, I woke up in labor on the 4th. I was annoyed that all those aholes were going to be right. Well, careful what you wish for!! I was in labor for 26 hours before DS arrived on the 5th. The long labor sucked but I like that he doesn't have to share his official day with the holiday and am glad all the annoying people weren't right, technically. Anyway, it will be what it will be for all of us.

    Yeah, I'm guessing you'll never get a "birthday month" again after you're a mama. Sorry, but it just wouldn't happen at our house due to how hectic life is. Enjoy next July as much as you can ;

  • I am due 8/13. My bday is 8/5, younger sisters is 8/11 and SFIL is 8/10. With DD I went 3 weeks early and that was much later than Drs expected so I kinda expect this one to be a July baby and as long as we aren't in the NICU I'm ok with that :

  • I am due on 8/12, my daughter's birthday. I wouldn't mind if they shared a day, but it would be nice for them to have their own days. If I could pick, 8/8 or 8/10 would be nice. My FIL's birthday is 8/6, so avoiding that would be great.

  • I'm due 8/4. I definitely want to avoid DD's birthday on 8/15, but since I'm either a VBAC by 41 weeks or a RCS, I know i"ll never get to that date. I would like it to be late July/early August just so we can be home and settled for DD's birthday - so she won't feel snubbed...
  • I'm hopeing dr will do my csecton on the 9th it's a Friday and Hubby would only have to take 1 day off work. I'll be home on Monday and my parents will be here to help for a week. my DD starts 5th grade on the 19th witch is my edd. Also the 9th is my grandpa birthday and my hubby grandpa birthday. I am avoiding the 13th because my DD was born on the 13th and I want that number to just be hers. Even tho the year will be 13 I still want the 13th day to be hers since.

  • For some odd reason, I love my due date ! (Aug 17th) I think it has such a nice ring to it, so that would be nice. I just do not want to go early, I am supposed to be a bridesmaid in my best friends wedding aug 4th (an outdoor wedding in august, wish me luck). Also one of the OB's at my practice, my favorite one, is pregnant too! She is due in June I think so she said, if I can hold out til my due date she should be back at work and I have a chance she will do my delivery!

No, in all seriousness, I really want to deliver at the beginning of the month. My best friend is getting married on the 17th and I am due the 15th. I really want to be at her wedding, and the only way it will really work is if I have lo on the early side.
