I've always been an excellent pooper, but now that I am pregnant I can't poop!!! When I do, it's like pooping toothpaste. I've tried extra fiber, fruit, coffee, water, etc! Any ideas?

How much exercise are you getting/doing other than chasing around a toddler?Usually when you get the body moving you can help get the body moving.
None! It's too freaking cold to go for a walk and I'm too exhausted to even consider the gym after work. Maybe in a few weeks when my energy returns.
Thanks, ladies! I'm going try ALL of your suggestions!
I know this is a serious question and no fun, but this is my favorite title of a post ever! I agree with blu..exercise helped me when I had this issue while pregnant.

Colace never helped me to go but I continued to take it because supposedly is softens it.
Yeah, Colace is just a stool softener. I think Miralax or something like that is a laxative that's safe for pregnancy. A bunch of ladies on my new bomb are taking it
Pregnancy + iron supplements for anemia did it to me! The thing that worked best for me was to take 2 or 3 stool softener 3x per day, drink lots of water, and if I was really bad, the doctor told me to take miralax. (Call your dr. to find out the doage.)

This. Also, the hospital had me take Milk of Magnesia but that was postpartum. I would check with your Dr to see what is safe.
When I was in the hospital after my c-section and I couldn't poop for days the nurses gave me a glass of half prune and half apple juice. It worked like a charm. They sent me home with some juice cups to use if I was constipated again. I used it twice the first week home and it was a life saver.
After I had B I had a really hard time gettin things moving again and the public health nurse told me hot, sweet drinks can help losen things up! It worked well for me!
I have the same problem and well.. It's become a gigantic painful pain in the ass. Literally : this happened last time, too. the only thing that keeps me going is a glass of OJ every morning with a gigantic spoonful of ground flaxseeds. I won't take anything while I'm pregnant, so softeners are out of the question for me, especially in the first tri. But this works so well. If you let the flaxseeds sit long enough to soak, it had the constancy of really pulpy OJ. It's really not bad. Prime juice made me puke.
Hot peppermint tea. It worked magic for my first postpardum constipation issues. That and an effing suppository. But nothing worked until I got the tea. I'm convinced it was the tea.

Prune Juice?
I had to use colace, and I had to lay off the iron pills for a while.

One of the joys of pregnancy, no? I didn't go for 9 days after I had DD--seriously awful experience.
Prune juice, Colace and anything with ginger in it helped me finally go. Ask your Dr. about Miralax--that stuff is awesome. So is Senecot.
Good luck!!!
