Because, yeah. My kid just grabbed the one I was eating and shoved it in her mouth. I pulled it out right away. Then the little stinker tried to steal my apple juice!
My kid tries to eat everything, including the Taco Bell I had for lunch. I give him little tastes of things here and there, but I'd never let him have like a bread pretzel...mostly because when old people are at risk for choking, we put them on special diets, and bread is the #1 thing they absolutely can NOT have, above all else. Babies and old people are the same, in many, many ways.
Like a cracker pretzel that comes in the bag? I guess if it was really gummed, I mean practically a slosh of a pretzel, they could have it, minus the salt.
I've succumbed to making baby versions if what I'm eating. Like tonight I'm making spaghetti. He's get it too just more mushed. He's already had parts of brownies and my tuna lettuce cups

I gave DD a large piece of apple to suck on while I held it. She sucked the shizz out if it and was pissed when I took it away. I haven't given her any pured fruit yet, so that apple must've tasted heavenly.

It was a pumpernickle pretzel stick from Trader Joe's. I didn't think she got it in her mouth, but when she made a little face and I felt the slobber on the pretzel, I knew. Of course, she didn't, like, swallow it or anything. Just sucked it for a second. That little b. I covet my TJ pump pretzel sticks!

I have done this. She just sooooo longingly will watch any food I have go from the plate to my mouth and open hers as if it going in my mouth was a mistake and it means to go in hers.
The other day I had a small bowl of cottage cheese, and the poor kid go SOOO excited she thought it was a snack for her, it broke my heart that it wasn't so I had to go mash her up some banana. I don't spoil her at all....
Re: Can babies have pretzels?
Haha as long as they don't choke!
I think licking foods is fine. My pedi said just no pizza... never mentioned anything else...'
Clearly booze and pretzels are fine.
