Reading someone's post below about giving LO cottage cheese as a snack made me realize that DS has never had cottage cheese because I don't like it! LOL! I don't buy foods that I don't like, but that doesn't mean he won't like them. So, this week, he will be getting some cottage cheese! And whatever other foods he has been missing out on because Mommy doesn't like them (though I pretty much like everything).
I keep saying the same thing about the cottage cheese and still havn't bought it. There are too many choices and I don't know anything about it, so I just give up and say 'next time.' Can anyone tell me exactly what kind to get? Do they make lower sodium ones? Flavored?
He, on the other hand, turns his nose up at cottage cheese while I kind-of like it. I put some on his plate the other day and he didn't even touch it. And this is my omnivore who will eat fish, mushrooms, tofu, asparagus, green beans, and pretty much everything else!
DS tends to like the same foods I do. DH likes more than I do, so I buy cottage cheese, fish, mushrooms because of dh. I always offer them to ds and tell him it is yummy. I don't know if it's because he sees me not eating certain foods or if he really doesn't like it, but we have similar likes and dislikes. Except fish. He loves fish, but I can't do it.
I hate bananas. Haaaaate them. Nora, on the other hand, is a banana fiend. I won't feed them to her, though -- I make DH do it so he can deal with the clean-up!
For whatever reason this was a topic that my DH and I discussed even before getting pregnant and so we have always made an effort to buy things for DD to try even if we don't really like them. It's tough though when I buy something and she doesn't seem to like it either then I'm stuck with food that nobody will eat.
I posted below about cottage cheese and just an FYI my DD didn't like the texture at first it took 5 or 6 tries before she actually would eat it. Now she loves it and it's a good source of protein. For the poster who asked about what to buy, I buy my store brand wegmans in the small curd 1 variety.
I don't like boiled vegetables.. But I force myself to eat them so that J will :P He likes most vegetables.
Also there is dried fruit, which he loves and eat as a snack.
And I cannot STAND (I do not know the term in English, but I'll try to describe it) "Butter-y ham/caviar/cheese/shrimp (not in the same blend, but on tube)"-mix that you smear on top of the bread slice. It is DISGUSTING, but J loves it.

thankfully, I don't think this exists in America. lol
I don't like peppers and onions. I don't feel bad about not feeding them to hazel.
I also really hate bananas and yogurt, but she likes them and they are good for you, so I suck it up give them to her even though their smells makes me want to vom.
Honestly, I can't really think of any food I really hate. Really super-strong fishy flavors like shrimp-flavored chips and pickled herring are kind of on my meh, not so much list, but I'd eat them to be polite.
DS will really eat anything. He even ate the previously mentioned shrimp chips, after DH and I decided we didn't want anymore of them. LOL

Haha. Yeah.. I'm sorry, that sounds pretty gross!
Lol, we actually have some in our fridge! Granted, we do buy it at Ikea. It's the salmon one though and we spread it on bagels along with cream cheese. Sorry, but I'm with J on this one! It's actually pretty yummy.
I am allergic to a lot of foods, AND I am picky. I do buy and make my kids eat a lot of things I can't/won't. But I'm also pretty understanding if THEY don't like it, too.
Mom to J (10), L (4), and baby #3 arriving in July of 2015
I don't eat any kind of fish...not even shell fish, so Sam hasn't had much in her life. DH likes fish and only gets it when we're out (I can't take the smell and won't allow him to cook it in the house), so Sam only gets it off her dad's plate or if my sis makes it. My mom doesn't eat fish either, so it's never at her house...thank goodness. lol
Re: Foods you don't like...
I don't like grapes, but buy them for LO.

I've never liked raisins so I never bought them for G. We were at a friend's house where he ate some and loved them, so now I've started buying.
