Ok I love the name Lily!!! so does my husband but I am so afraid to pick a popular name!! We don't know any Lily's but I have heard the name several times! Help!!
My little girl is Lily. She is being named for my grandmother, so I'm not concerned about popularity.
I do see the name quite a bit on this message board, but I honestly dont know any Lily's in person except for my grandmother.....so perhaps it's regional. I know a couple of little Lyla's, though.
We are having a Lily. But I only know of 2 or 3 little girls with that name across 2 states. Not any more popular than other names we were considering.
My cousin just named her DD Lily. (But that's the only one I know right now, in my personal life.) Actually, as I started this reply I just remembered: She gave her the name Lillian but never intends to call her Lillian. She's known as Lily. And I've never heard her referred to as Lillian. I think it's pretty popular, but I think it's both very pretty and very cute and popularity wouldn't bother me on this one.
My daughter is Lily O'Brien and other then one other adult named Lily (My husband's cousin and name inspiration) we don't know any other Lily's - surprisingly. We live in a major city and thought she'd be 1 of 5 Lily's on the playground or in daycare but currently she is the only one.
We were also worried about popularity but decided to go with it since we both loved the name and my husband has always wanted to name his first daughter Lily.

One of my mum's friend's became a grandmother to a Lily in december. I also know one Olivia who goes by Lily (20yo)

I know 4 under the age of 5, plus a handful that are older (but all younger than high school).
Even if there aren't any in your circle, there are a lot of little Lilys running around and your Lily is eventually going to be in the bigger world and find that her name is very, very common. It's a beautiful name and you should use it if you love it, but I think sometimes people convince themselves that a name's not really popular just because they haven't run across it much.
It is popular but not top-5 popular. I hear it a lot on here too but don't know anybody in real life with the name. If you love it and your H loves it too, I'd say you should go for it!
I know one that is my age, and in my daughter's school there is one in the 4yo class. I have about fifty'leven friends with kids and no one has used it yet.
I know six Lilly's under the age 6. Two, yes two, are in my DD's class and one in my DS's class. Two friends from college named their daughter this and a neighbor on our block. It is crazy popular.
My 3 year old is Lily. She has never had another one in any of her daycare classes. She has been in daycare since she was 3 months old. We dont know any other Lilys personally, but we have run into a few others in public (zoo, disney world). I do know a woman who is in her mid 50's named lillian though. Here's a funny story- when i was pg with my lily, i loved the name Isla. My husband vetoed it. I was sort of crushed. We now know 3 Islas - including one in her daycare class.
I can think of 3 under the age of 2. One of them is a Lilyana, which I think is sweet, but I know that's becoming popular too. Personally, I don't care about popularity or not. I grew up Kathy in a class full of Katie's and always felt a little silly correcting teachers who wanted to call me Katie. I wouldn't have minded a name more common for my age group.

I was just coming to the baby name board to see how much discussion there was on this name. I'm 31 weeks pregnant and it's the only name we're considering at this point, although I'm torn because of the popularity.
The only Lily I know is my BFF's dog, lol. This is another reason that I'm hesitant
My older daughter is named Alexis (though she goes my Lexi) and I had the same issues with her name. She's 2.5 and we have only run into one other Lexi (which was at a park once).

I love it too, and while it might be a little more popular than a few years ago, I don't think that it is too much
My best friend just named her LO Liliana (born a few weeks ago) everyone calls her Lily for short.
