Odd Cycle Bleeding

I'm nursing my 16-week-old exclusively. I've already gotten my first period, and since then I have been spotting on and off every other week or so. I called the Doctor and she wants me to come in for an ultrasound to see if everything is ok.

Has anyone else had any issues like this? I just need something to put my mind at ease because I can't find any information about anything like this online and my appointment isn't for another week and a half. I've been very stressed out about a lot of issues going on in my life right now; I don't know if that would have any effect on this or not. I have always had a very predictable cycle and this is just completely throwing me off and I don't know what to think.

I have an appointment Monday for the same thing. I don't breastfeed, and I didn't get my first period until 17 weeks PP. Since that first one, I have had a period every two weeks. I gave birth on Aug.5, can't remember exactly how many weeks PP I am now. I used to be very regular before pregnancy too. The only info I found online is that it can be due to a low thyroid function, causing you not to ovulate and your body to shed the uterus lining early, or every two weeks. Apparently this can be common after birth. Good luck. I am so ready to not have a period every two weeks-I feel as though I have been bleeding for the last month and a half.

Becc77 - my friend has a thyroid issue (no babies) and its funny like how you guys are saying. I would ask about that....
