A few things:
1. What's the difference between Overnights and Baby Dry? I'm having a really hard time finding overnight diapers in my local stores. Manx recommended Amazon, but those are specifically for Baby Dry, not the Huggies Overnights we found by a fluke at Target who no longer carried anything less than a size 2.
2. Why do people recommend going up a size for overnight diapers? N is only 13lbs 11oz. There's no way I could put her in a size 3 when she's drowning in size 2s.
3. Any of you using something other than Huggies Overnights or Pampers Baby Dry?
We ran out of overnight diapers last week and I think that's why N has been waking up at 445 everyday. Now that Target/Walgreens/Wal Mart don't carry any small sizes in overnights, I'm looking for other options.

Pampers Baby Dry isn't an overnight diaper. It's Pampers "regular" brand; Swaddlers/Cruisers are the Pampers premium brand.
Pampers does make a diaper called Extra Protection that is designed for overnight use and starts at size 3. Huggies Overnights also start at size 3. Overnight diapers start at size 3 because most babies that sleep 12 hours are big enough for size 3.
My DD was small and was still wearing a size 2 diaper when she started sleeping 12 hours at night and overflowing her regular size 2 diaper. We started putting size 3 Huggies Overnights on her and they worked perfectly. You'll never know if a size 3 diaper won't solve your overnight problem if you don't try it.

Pampers Baby Dry Diapers
Up to 12 hours of overnight protection
With up to 12 hours of overnight protection, Pampers Baby Dry diapers have 3 layers, versus only 2 in our leading competitor. Baby Dry diapers also have an even wider UltraAbsorb core for outstanding leakage protection and they flex for a snug, comfortable fit. Youll also love seeing your favorite Sesame Street characters on every diaper. Wake up to a happy, wellrested baby with Pampers Baby Dry diapers.
Pampers does not make a diaper called Extra Protection.

Yes, Pampers Baby Dry advertises that they can work up to 12 hours overnight, but they are not specifically an overnight diaper. Any diaper can potentially work up to 12 hours. (Note that Pampers also lists Cruisers as offering "up to 12 hours of leakage protection.")
Look at the link below and scroll down. You'll see all of Pampers diaper products, including Swaddlers, Cruisers, Swaddlers Sensitive, Baby Dry, and Extra Protection. The Extra Protection diapers have "25% more absorbency than Baby Dry."

Speaking for DS1, with Aidan we are nowhere near needing this.
For a time, DS1 peed so much in his sleep that we had to use diaper doublers. Maybe that's a solution for you?
We used these for our older daughter. https://www.amazon.com/Pampers-Extra-Protection-Nighttime-Diapers/dp/B005TI84J2/ref=sr_1_1?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1358271288&sr=1-1&keywords=pampers+overnights+size+3
Wrangling babies since 2010
wait... there's diapers that you can soak up the poop? H has started to poop in the middle of the night. I won't leave her in a dirty diaper if I know she's dirty and it always wakes her up. But there's a night diaper that, for lack of a better term, wisks poop away?
I think she may like that, even if it wakes her up, it hopefully won't irritate her as much. Hmmmm....

The reason I go up a size with nighttime diapers rather than buy overnights is the cost. We were buying Huggies Overnights, and they were $20 for 52 in size 5. And, we still had leaks.
DD needs a serious nighttime diaper, she pees ALOT. I bought a box of Parent's Choice on a whim and we've been using them at night. They work great. She's in a size 4 during the day & size 5 at night in the PC brand.
