DS has had a red rash on his face for about a week now.. It's pretty light in the morning (light pink) and gets darker and rosier throughout the day. today it spread to his chin by the end of the day. I haven't noticed it anywhere else. Last week he had a low grade fever and got a little sick (everyone in the family was) and still has a runny nose from it. He also had diarrhea on Tuesday... He's not warm to touch so I dont think he's overheated or anything..
I know it's dry so tomorrow I'm going to start trying some lotion to see if that helps. MIL seems to think it's Fifth's Disease but I dont want to jump to conclusions. (however, I am almost 20 weeks preg so if it was FD I should prob head to the DR)
Anyone else kiddo have (or have had) a rash like this? Should I just call the doc to be sure.. or is it just a common age/ dry winter type thing?
Re: red rash on face
Now that you mention it, DD has the same red rash around her mouth that gets darker throughout the day, but I assumed it was dry skin? I keep putting more and more lotion on it, but nothing seems to be helping...
Now I'm paranoid....
Have you looked at pics of fifth's on google? Sounds like fifth's to me. DS just had it and a few months ago half my first grade class had it. My OB wasn't worried at all about me, but I've been around kids for years and have had lots of exposure. He told me there isn't really anything you can do since the rash appears after they aren't contagious anymore, to practice good hand washing.
Brooklyn had this for a few weeks and what I concluded was dry skin from
A.it being winter B. wiping her face so much and it drys it out more
It has gone away now but I had to put loction on it day and night.
