Re: Baby shower food
This. I wouldn't even worry about it - let the host figure it out.
This-unless you know that your crowd will all eat chicken sandwiches.
Yes, this. But if you do get pulled into planning or asked for an opinion, go with a vegetarian option, like a veggie wrap.
And shredded chicken is cooked chicken that is shredded up (like pulled pork) and marinated in a cream soup, usually mushroom. Then you pile the chicken mush on a bun and eat it. It's disgusting, but it's super popular where I'm from, and it usually goes over well at parties.
Sounds classy. What is punch water? I would def do some more sandwich options. Perhaps some nice gourmet wraps and some salads. I would do some veggie wraps, regular grilled chicken pesto wraps and a nice salad with candied pecans, Gorgonzola and a raspberry vinigerette and a pasta salad. Cheese and veggie platters are good apps.
OP - I think you need to keep in mind the guests that you will be having. Will they be ok with the food you described, my crowd would be with maybe a pasta salad and another small app added. I would probably add 1 more drink choice, even if it's another type of punch.
If I served a salad with candied pecans, gorgonzola and raspberry vinigerette, I know it wouldn't get eaten. This just isn't the crowd that would be in attendance at my shower.
Typical shower food (non meal time) in my area is:
- punch/water/pop
- finger sandwiches on croissants or bread (ham, turkey, chicken salad...) with a small condiment bar to add to sandwiches (mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato)
- 3-4 "sides" (pasta salad, chips/pretzels, jello salad, veggie/fruit tray, pinwheel sandwiches, various desserts, tortilla chips with various dips)
- cake and/or cupcakes
Sounds good to me. I'd maybe add a side carb like a pasta or potato salad, but other than that, I think you've got it covered.
Have a fun shower!
