POLL: Bedtime, Wake time & Night Waking

What time does your LO go to bed?

What time does he/she wake up?

Any usual night wakings? Around what time?

We're thinking E is going to bed too early since she's up and ready to play at 5:30 everyday. We're putting her down between 6pm and 7pm and she seems sleepy, but I'm sure she would be happy to play and stay up for a while. I'd love to see what you all are doing.

Re: POLL: Bedtime, Wake time & Night Waking

  • Bedtime: 8pm

    Wakeup: between 8 and 9:30am

Usual night waking: 1am, although he's STTN the past 3 nights. This is huge for him!!

  • Loading the player...
  • She goes to bed between 730 and 800

    Gets up at about 715

If she wakes up she usually puts herself right back to sleep.

  • My target bedtime for DD is 8:30, but its usually closer to 9:00. She usually wakes up around 7:30. Now that we have number 2, DH is going to take her to daycare, so they have to leave by 7:00. DD usually doesn't get up at night.

This exactly. Sometimes, bed time is before 7. She awakes at the same time regardless.

  • He goes to bed at 7:00 and wakes at 7:00 and he only wakes up if something is wrong.  He also naps for about 2-3 hours twice a day. Though since switching him to his toddler bed has switched his nap routine so he is trying to crash around 6:00 we deal with the whining and crying because I want his bedtime to stay the same.

My doctor told me gave me the best advice about sleep ever.  I went to him stressed after DD stopped sleeping at night.  His first question was, "Has she dropped a nap recently?"  The answer was yes and he said, "She wasn't ready to.  Make her take that nap."  I did and she started sleeping at night again.

I mention it because recently she tried to drop her afternoon nap and started waking up at 4:30 to 5:00 in the morning.  I made her nap and she started sleeping until 7:00.

  • I posted all about this in the bedtime post but N's schedule is:

    up at 7-730

    Nap 1 - 930-1030

    Nap 2 - 230-330

bedtime 830-9  we start around 8-830.  It typically takes a half hour to change, read books and nurse him.

He was going to bed at 7 but waking every hour so his sleep center doctor told us to condense his sleep time.  I wish he went to bed earlier, but I work (from home) at night and typically don't get to bed until 1ish so waking at 530 would kill me.  I am ok with late bedtime and late wake ups.

  • Wow DS is the oddball here!

    Bedtime: 11pm

    Wake up: 10-11am

No night time wakings here. We just moved back to the East Coast from the West not too long ago  and over there he went to sleep at 9pm and would wake between 9-10am. We're night owls so his schedule really isn't that inconvenient.

  • Bedtime: 9 pm. It used to be earlier, but he won't sleep sooner than that now. It works out because DH has been working 7 days a week lately. He doesn't get home until 6:30 the earliest. At least he gets to see DS for a bit in the evenings.

Wake up: between 8:30 and 9 am

DS only wakes at night occasionally. I usually give him a few minutes to work it out. 99.9% of the time he fusses and falls back to sleep within 2 minutes. Very rarely he will fuss longer and I go to him. Or if he wakes up crying hard I go to him right away. But again, that's extremely rare.

  • What time does your LO go to bed? 7:30-8:00ish

What time does he/she wake up? Averages around 6 am.

Any usual night wakings? Around what time?  If he does, we don't hear him.  The nights I've been up pretty late, he seems to wake up for a minute around 1:30 but then puts himself back out.

    It's glorious.

  • Bedtime: usually 7, but due to early teething wake ups we have been trying 6:45.

Wakeuo: usually 7, but we have been in a pit of 5:30 teething wake ups that were making us mental. I was away last night but my husband said he slept till 7:30, so here's hoping it's over!

    Night wakings: none

  • Bedtime: 8:30ish

    Wake: 9:00ish

He STTN about 95 percent of the time. He also only has 1 nap a day that lasts usually only an hour. On very rare days, ill get 1.5 or 2 hours.

  • What time does your LO go to bed? 5:30-6

What time does he/she wake up? 5:30 or so

Any usual night wakings? Around what time? Lately he's been waking for a quick snuggle (~10 mins) about an hour after being put down for the night.  He settles right in and goes down without a peep for the rest of the night after that.

What time does he/she wake up? 6-7am

Any usual night wakings? Around what time? She wakes up maybe once or twice a week now around 3-4am.  She goes back to sleep quickly though.  Every once in a while we will have a bad night where she wakes up and struggles to get back to sleep, but thankfully it has been a while since that happened.  If she is sick, she often wakes more often though

  • Bedtime is between 7 and 7:30pm.

Wake up is between 5 and 6am, but usually closer to 5.

No night wake ups anymore, except for a handful of times she has been sick or teething badly. No matter what we do to her bedtime, she refuses to sleep longer in the morning so we're sticking with the current schedule for now.

Wow that is late. Won't that be hard when he starts school? I guess you can always switch him to an early time then.

    Anyhoo

Ds is asleep by 715pm or so

During the week he is up at 620 to go to daycare, but on weekends he sleeps till 730.

He wakes up once at night, around 4am nurses and goes back to bed.

Wake time: Between 6:30 and 8:30am

Night wakings: About once a week she'll wake up between 5 and 6:30am.  I'll go in, nurse her, put her back down and she'll sleep another hour or two.

If E doesn't get too cranky, I would try at least keeping her up till 7pm.  6pm is pretty early, IMO.

  • She goes down anytime between 6 and 9. If she goes down early she occasionally wakes up at like 730pm for a nap and a snack then goes back down. She wakes for the day between 730 and 930 depending on our work schedules.

What time does he/she wake up? We wake him up at 6:30, if we don't wake him then he is up around 7:30 or 8:00.

  • Bedtime is 7:15-7:30pm. We wake her up about 6:30am on weekdays and on weekends she sleeps until about 7-7:15am. I will say that she used to go to bed at 7pm and she started waking up at 5-5:30am, so just this past week we pushed her bedtime back to 7:30pm and she has slept better and longer again. Thank goodness!

  • What time does your LO go to bed?  7:30 (+/- 30 minutes depending on how the day goes)

What time does he/she wake up?  Usually around 6:30 if he sleeps all night

Any usual night wakings? Around what time?  Every now and then (probably 3x a week) he will wake up and stay awake for a while (like usually an hour to an hour and a half).  It seems to happen a lot around 3:30 Sleep  He doesn't cry very much, I'll just hear him in there talking, making sounds every few minutes.

    wakeup: 8am

And she just started waking at night screaming bloody murder.  Nothing is wrong w/ her though?  i go into her and she has her paci and blanket and no poop etc... so i don't know what her problem is.  I think she'll have to CIO for a few nights b/c i'm not going in multiple times a night when she's absolutely fine.  buggers.

btw, she only takes 1 nap/day and it's usually only an hour to an hour and half.  she's not a big napper.

  • DD usually goes to bed at 8 and sleeps until around 7:30 on weekends and we wake her at 7 during the week. A lot of the time she wakes earlier during the week if we are too loud getting ready. I am always telling DH to be quiet.
