I judge pregnant women who drink alcohol - even the "just a sip" and the "half a glass" drinks. There's no study that's been able to prove how much or how little alcohol causes FAS and other problems, so why risk it? You wouldn't give your newborn "just a sip" or "half a glass" of an alcoholic drink, so why is it ok when you're pregnant??

On this note I judge mothers who BF and don't pump before they have a drink.

Alcohol metabolizes out of BM at the same rate it does blood. So this is not always necessary. ETA I assume you mean after they drink.

No I meant before they drink, I know it metabolizes out but if they are at their house and have some friends over and mom has a drink or has a glass of wine with dinner but didn't pump first and baby wakes up and is hungry, then what?

How long did you BF? You seem ignorant to how it works.

Huh? How does that make me ignorant?

i asked a question: how long did you bf? My thinking is not very long. Is this correct? If you had, you would understand why what you said doesn't make much sense.

8 months. Now answer my question, how does that make me ignorant? To keep the long story short, I know a so called woman who has a 3 month old beautiful baby girl whom she is BFing. We have witnessed her on several occasions drinking and even a few other things at times and 20 mins later BFing the baby. Are you saying that is okay? That she shouldn't have pumped milk for her baby earlier that day before deciding to drink?

eta: posted before I wrote anything.

I don't really see anything wrong with having a drink and then nursing your baby if you feel fine. My pediatrician and LC both said "fine to drive, fine to feed." Now, this can't be a case where you're not really fine, but you do it anyways. Don't tell me you never put anything bad (ie, McDonald's) into your body and then nursed. Very little alcohol actually crosses the bm unless you're sloshed.

It actually is okay. As long as you don't feel drunk, you're okay to BF while having a drink or two. I've actually been having a beer while I BF DD. Now if you're talking about a friend being sh!tfaced and BF'ing, that's a different story.

My confession is that I am one of the ones who secretly wished for m/s because I was feeling insecure about the pregnancy. And like all of the wise posters here said, I should have just been thankful that I didn't have it. Because now I do and I am miserable. And all of those ladies were right.

    Here-

Safe to drive, safe to drink is a good guideline. I get buzzed off 1 drink, so I wouldn't be ok in the scenario above. But not everyone is as weaksauce as me :)

  • I am late to the party and actually read all of these!!!

My FFFC is I represent the scum of the earth sometimes - just got appointed to a material witness in a murder case.  Sometimes I hate it, but sometimes it makes me feel really bad ass!  I have a horrible sex case coming up in March that has already given me a nightmare...

  • Well jeez... I'm tardy to the party AND my confessions are lame.

I'm annoyed at the receptionist at my office because she's lazy and does pretty much no work all day, and then complains about how busy she is while I'm running my ass off rooming patients and doing immunizations and EKGs and phone calls to patients for three providers. She took a half day today, and my last hour was slow. I capitalized on the opportunity to clip all of her paper clips together.  When I was done I may have said "bazinga" out loud.

I ate three red peppers yesterday. I would have eaten more but we only had the three. I actually cried when I put the last piece of the last pepper in my mouth.

  • My confession is that I would really like to be more involved on this board, but I never know what to say. I'm going to try to be more involved on here though - I wasn't very involved during my first pregnancy, and I wish that I had been. We'll see if I ever come up with anything to say:)

That is lame, sorry. Chick fil a is good, and actually one of the healthier fast foods, though it is still not healthy. I don't boycott places because they have different beliefs then I do especially if they are good. I have 5 gay friends and all but 1 of them eat at chick fil a again. What purpose does it serve? Nothing more than causing a bigger divide which is exactly the last thing this country needs. We are more seperated today then we probably have ever been as a country. It is so disheartening.
You are more than welcome to your opinion. I disagree. And lol at ME being the cause of a bigger divide in our country!! Not, you know, the one funding hate and bigotry, which you happily continue to support.

For real.  We should just give in to the Westboro Baptist Church as well, right?  Why argue, let's be at peace with them.  As a matter of principal, I don't support them either.  There are other good chicken places that don't take a public stand against something I feel strongly about.

seriously?  there is a huge difference between what westboro does and what chick-fil-a did. Chick-fil-a is not going around the country seeking to harass gays. They simply stated their belief on the subject. Quite honestly I don't see why everyone was surprised they have been openly christian since the beginning, I mean what did people think their view was going to be? If they refused to served gays or something like that I would wholeheartedly boycott, but they have a right to their belief and religion.

Please do not equate bigoted "beliefs" with Christianity.  "Openly Christian" does not = anti-gay or against human rights.  Yes, they have a right to be Christian.  But being Christian DOES NOT mean that you get to put down a group of other people because you claim that their lifestyle is against God's will.  Please.  That's bullshits.

ETA: And yes, I'm shocked as all hell when someone claims to be Christian and then puts down homosexuals.

THIS! I am openly Christian and attend church every Sunday, HOWEVER, I am also a gay rights activist.  It's not about religion.  It's about human rights and civil rights.  Chick-fil-a is welcome to their opinion that homosexuality is wrong, but I think their public condemnation of homosexuals and their "charitable" contributions are more anti-christian than they are Christian.  I truly think actions like that give Christianity a bad name.
