Gross Gross Gross!!!

So I'm at my desk at work (I work for a small chiropractic office) doing my usual rountine when one of our newer patients comes in. She brought her son who is about 4 who looked just awful and I mean awful...he was all pale and overall just look miserable. I asked her if he was ok and she told me that he has a stomach virus. Ok, well if it was me I would have left my kid with someone or stayed home until he was better, but what can you do? So anyway she goes in for some treatment while the kid waits in the waiting room. about 15 minutes later she was done. She then decides that since our massage therapist is here she wanted to have a massage since she hadn't had one in awhile. Again, what can you do? Well she wasn't in the massage room for 10 minutes when her son threw up all over my waiting room! And I mean all over. I felt so bad for the poor kid. Luckily there was only one other patient in the waiting room who was good about the situation. So my boss went to get the mother and she was actually annoyed that her massage had to be cut short! Could you believe this?? I mean I know accidents happen especially with small children but really...this woman is nuts.

So now here I sit on my break at my desk in a smelly office, unable to eat my lunch because I feel like gagging. Boo! Sad

That poor kid (and you for having to smell it). I can't believe the mom was upset that she had to have her massage cut short!

I'm sorry....but even as a mom I can say you shouldn't take your sick kid and make him wait by himself in a waiting room!!

Because getting a massage is so much more important than taking care of your poor sick DS. Ugh...some people should not be parents!

Question - did you make her clean it up? I would've! Teach her a lesson to be selfish!

What a selfish mother. "My kid is sick and miserable, but ooh! The massage therapist is here!" And then to be annoyed when the kid throws up everywhere?! Last time I checked, it was rude to the general public and downright mean to the kid to take them out when they're that sick...unless you're getting them medical care. Ugh.

I'm telling you she didn't even say anything when she left! She stormed out of the massage room, threw her copay on my desk and practically dragged the kid out of our office in a huff. I still can't believe it!!

So wait a minute. She left the kid in the waiting room while she went for her appointment? So she basically left him unattended? The she had the nerve to add a massage onto her appointment with her sick little boys sitting there? Way to go, mom. Of course I guess her comfort outweighs the health of her child and anyone else who he might come in contact with. She sicks and you should be able to go home!

She didn't make an attempt to clean anything up. She just stormed out! My boss took care of the waiting room...I couldn't do it. I almost gagged while trying to help the kid...I felt so bad!

I guess it may sound a bit odd but again I work in a very small office. Its usually just the doctor and myself or someone else here at all times. We have a few patients that bring their kids and I usually set them up with some coloring books or little games if they don't go into the room while the parent is treating. I have full view of the waiting room so I've always just kept an eye on them.

That is wrong on so many different levels! You guys need a sign about no unattended children in the waiting room. Especially with you being pregnant, you shouldn't be responsible for any child, let alone a sick child. I would think it would be the other way around, parents wanting to keep their kids in the room with them.

I've never had a problem before I usually enjoy when people bring their kids. Also whenever there are kids in the waiting room I always stop what I'm doing to keep an eye on them. But after today, I just may have to agree with this. I guess I should talk to my boss about it.

Poor kid & poor you! That mother should be slapped! Why you would so selfishly go for a massage when you sick little guy is stuck waiting is beyond me.
