Trying to Get Pregnant

Getting Fit for Pregnancy

Hi everyone,

I am writing this in hopes that I can connect with others in my situation. I am very exciting to start trying to get pregnant, but I would really like to lose some weight and get healthy first. I am very open to suggestions, and am willing to share my journey with anyone who is interested.

I also started this blog to help share my journey and get input!

I look forward to hearing from people and getting ready for the fun part!

  • I'm in the same boat; this is a very exciting time! I too decided to take charge of my health in preparation for baby by quitting smoking (2 months smoke-free yay!), juicing at least 3x a week, starting a prenatal vitamin, walking long distances with my pup and just recently joining a kickboxing class! I feel great and I don't know why I didn't do all of these things earlier but telling myself that "it's for my future baby" is a HUGE motivator :) Good luck!

  • I use the myfitnesspal app to keep me in check. I find it very useful! My husband uses it, also.

There is a getting healthy or losing weight thread that is posted on Thursdays if you want to check that out.

This. If you are looking for a "partner", you'll have dozens checking in with you every Thursday.

A lot of us do different things.  I personally am on Weight Watchers and have lost 7.6 pounds since Nov 23rd.  I lost 5 pounds on my own in the month of Nov. for a total loss of 12.6.

  • I'm not necessarily trying to lose weight but I am definitely trying to get healthier by walking more (I've been parking further from buildings for starters!) and eating better. I decided today to cut out alcohol and caffeine as well so I am weaning off my coffee habit starting tomorrow.

So far I've found that thinking of it in terms of preparing to get pregnant is actually a decent motivator! Good luck to you and I hope you have some fun and feel good in the process!

  • I checked out your blog. Looks like it will be fun to follow. Just checking though-- you've lost 4 pounds in 3 days? I'm not sure, but I think it isn't really healthy to lose more than a couple pounds a week. Just take care of yourself. :)

As far as fitness, I was super on track leading up to our wedding in September (working out 4-6 days a week), but have been less so lately. My goal for the new year is 2 days of cardio and 2 days of yoga a week and so far I've done that.

  • I haven't posted on this board yet, but I'll respond to this!   We are planning on trying starting this month, so I started taking prenatal vitamins beginning December, been doing the Biggest Loser power walk DVD several times a week, and eating a ton more fruit and vegetables.  I wish the coffee thing was easier.  I really need to stop that.    I wish I could lose a few more pounds, but it's not happening as easily as I would have hoped.

  • Me too!  I want to be at a healthier weight before TTC, although I am still actively TTC... My BMI is about 26 so I don't have a TON to lose, but I'd like to lose 20 pounds... We shall see!

    PgAL and PAL always welcome...
  • I also am trying to get healthy, eat right and be fit. Eating healthy is easier than booking it to the gym.

Anyways it is nice to "meet you". I will check out your blog for sure :)
