RCS scheduled....of course I am having doubts now

contractions 2 minutes apart for 30 hrs with no progress

30 hrs of intense contractions and my water broke 

at 32 hrs still no progress and was put on cervidil

by 43 hours I was only 2 cm and they let me have my epidural...at that point my

baby went down hill and they did and emergency csection.

I was told the next day that I should have RCS for any future pregnancies.  Of

course now that my RCS is scheduled I am having doubts. Should I be advocating

for a VBAC......

    I think this is one if those you won't know til you try it situations. With a first pregnancy you need to be completely effaced before you begin to dilate. Not so for subsequent pregnancies. So you may not have problems dilating with this one. Also, what position was your first one in? Did baby engage? Baby's head needs to be engaged to put pressure on the cervix to get it to dilate.

    Personally I'd want to di a TOL myself. You can always decide on an RCS along the way. There are many benefits to allowing your body to go into labor naturally.

    When is your RCS scheduled for? I would schedule it for as late as possible (past 41 weeks) to give yourself a good chance of going into labor on your own.

    Are you still with the same practice that told you RCS for any future pregnancies? If so, I would talk to them frankly about VBAC, and think about finding a practice that truly supports VBAC.

    DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)

    You can always try laboring and then switch to a c/s if things aren't progressing.  Things can be completely different the second time around. 

    Have you asked your current doctor about VBAC? Are you still seeing the same doctor that told you to have a RCS for any future pregnancies?

    I am still at the same practice.  The Doctor that did my first C/S told me it was the right choice for RCS but didn't elaborate last week. She also is not doing my RCS, she is not available that week. They scheduled the RCS for 39w 1 day.

    Not sure  if the baby was engaged with my first labor. She was born with a big bruise on her head.

    I would schedule it later than 40 weeks, to give yourself a better chance of going into labor. 

    My first son, who was also a c/s, had a huge bruise on his head from me pushing for so long. Your DD could have been lined up wrong, which can definitely affect how easily a baby comes out.
