I had a vaginal birth on October 5th and had to get an episiotomy. Well, needless to say, my healing hasn't been going as smoothly as I had hoped for. My doctor wants to go back and re-stitch the area because it just doesn't seem to be healing correctly. I am going completely out of my mind because it's already been 3 months... going on 4!!! I just want to be back to normal. I want my vagina back!!! Just wondering if anyone had this done and how did it go? I'm kind of freaked out about it. I thought once I was done the day I gave birth, I would be good to go. Thanks ladies!
Re: Anyone get RE-stitched after vaginal birth?
I didn't have an episiotomy, I had an almost 4th degree tear, and it took about a half hour to stitch me up right after I had Joey. It is just sore from time to time (especially after intercourse).
I didn't need to get re-stitched, but I know someone who was stitched up by a resident right after she had her baby and they botched it. Her doctor didn't cut and re-stitch her; her vagina was cauterized. I think I would rather be stitched up 3 times than to be cauterized down there.
I think you're doing the right thing by getting re-stitched; it is letting your doctor know that you are still in a lot of pain. Good luck!
