Labor & Delivery on Discovery Fit & Health - whhhyyyyyy?!

I recently discovered old episodes of Labor & Delivery on Discovery Fit & Health. I think it was originally filmed in the 90s, and features complicated pregnancies/deliveries of all shapes and sizes. It's like a smorgasbord of new things to worry about, and almost all of the babies end up in the NICU. One episode even features the birth of the first son of a NYC Firefighter who later died on 9/11. My DH is a NYC police officer and we're having our first son, so of course this one almost killed me.

Obviously I've been DVRing it, and watching it obsessively. Gah, whhhhyyyy? I just can't stop myself. For some reason watching all the worst case scenarios makes me feel like I can be more in control if something goes wrong with my own labor & delivery. However, I do feel like at some point I should probably step away and get a grip.

It should be noted that this all happens in secret, and I'd be totally embarassed if DH caught me watching this horrifying show.....

    If you would like to watch videos of a more typical modern birthing experience,  babycenter.com has three well done videos of a natural birth, an epidural birth, and a c-section.  I actually found them to be reassuring and helpful!

    I watched these last night.  The lady with the epidural seemed so chill!
