Sleep trouble ?

LO started sttn on his own at around 6wks. But since around 5mths he started waking up about an hour after he goes down. I do know it gets worse if he's actively teething but he just cut his top two teeth and is healthy. I know that's not the issue anymore. He'll wake up just once and then when we go pick him up he'll go back to sleep easy and then sleep the rest of the night. We do the Sleep Easy Solution as far as sleep training. I guess my question is why is he waking up? Does he just know we'll come back and get him? Or is it separation anxiety? I'm not really sure at this point. I'd like to hear what other moms have to say. Ideas please!

    We went through this with DS. He was also STTN at 6 weeks, but started waking around 4 months 2-3 times (sometimes more) per night. He would want to nurse each time and would only nurse for about 10 minutes. I suspected it being separation anxiety so we just went with it. At nearly 8 months it has gotten much better in the last four nights he has slept through the night 3 out of the 4 nights. He has been waking we let him fuss for a little (he is not crying just whining) 99.9% of the time he has gone back to sleep. We also use a sleep sheep in his bed which has worked wonders. I refuse to let DS cry it out or cry at all, if he cries I go and get him, but whining I just let him.
