Sometimes when we introduce a new solid to DD2 she will take one or two bites, decide she doesn't like it, and then refuse to eat anymore. I'm not sure what to do when she does this. Should I offer her something else that I know she will like so that she will eat? Or does she just miss a solids meal because she doesn't like what's offered? I certainly don't want to establish bad eating habits at an early age (we don't give my toddler something different if she doesn't like what's served), but I feel like DD2 is too young for that, and I should just be concerned that she's getting enough to eat. The other night she refused avocado (for the third time), so I gave her some carrots instead and she gobbled up every bite.
Re: Yet Another Solids Question
Like PP, we have the "until one, food is fun" quote too.
We had this same thing happen with apples (he made this nasty sour face with every bite until just straight up refusing) and avocados (it was his first food attempt...not so much...). We are making our own food and will cook it and then mash it or puree it if needed.
He loves bananas, so we mixed apples with bananas (like the song! lol) and all was well with the world. We figured out that the avocado was a little too sticky for him, so adding a little bit of breast milk to get it to the right consistency was yummy to his tummy.
Good luck!
