Curious what % of us breast feed, EP, FF or a mixture?

I had planned on: breast feeding for a year and pumping so DH could help out & give a bottle.

I ended up: EPing because LO won't latch

Extras: Sad to say I am thinking about stopping pumping due to my weekly clogged ducts & currently battling my 4th case of mastisis. FF is my plan w/in the next couple weeks.

BF! I feel your pain on the mastisis. I had to get antibiotics, and had flu like symptoms. It was no fun. I hope everything gets better for you!

Sadly FF. I wanted to EBF, but she wasn't eating well due to jaundice and formula was our best option to get rid of it.

BF with about 10 percent supplement of formula. I am having supply issues so sometimes she is still hungry. We have been supplementing from the start bc my milk took awhile to come in. Little by little we are dropping the formula. My goal is to make it 6 months and evaluate from there. I hope to make it a full year. I'm a SAHM so that helps.

EP'ed for quite awhile when DS was in the hospital and a few weeks after he came home. Now EBF and hope to do so for a year, with my first short-term goal set at 6 months.

Planned to BF. I only got about a week of EBF when we had his first appointment and he had lost so much weight from struggling with BF that I went home crying and gave him formula. Then we did pumping and suplementing, then when he was about 5 weeks I dried up because I didn't pump often enough. Crap.

Breastfeed and pump while away. DD has had a few bottles of formula in the begining when we were having some issues.

I BF. It was really tough at first (we had to supplement due to CJ being preemie and having jaundice/blood sugar issues) but now things are going well. I plan on pumping at work when I go back in February and BFing at home. My goal is to make it to 6 months and then reevaluate from there. I would like to BF the whole first year, but we will see how things go once I am back at work.

BF with pumping for a stash and the occasional bottle. Plan is to keep BFing and pumping when I go back to work for at least 6 mos.

EBF and the plan is to stay that way until LO starts high school. Just kidding. I'd like to keep going as long as she's willing.

Questions for those with clogged duct and mastitis issues: Are you guys pumping empty every time? And have you tried using hand expression in combination with the pump?

Planned on breastfeeding during maternity leave and pumping and possibly supplementing with formula while working... So far, I've breastfed at home and have lately given 1 bottle of formula a day to get LO's system used to it for daycare in case I can't pump enough while working. I start work again in 2 weeks, so we'll see what happens.

EBF. Pumping about once a day to build a freezer stash. We had to cupfeed a half ounce of formula with each feeding for the first 3 or 4 days due to high bilirubin. Hoping to BF/pump for bottles if and when I go back to work until at least 6 months, then we'll reevaluate.

I BF as well as pump off 1 bottle a day for the freezer and 1 bottle a day for DH to give DS right before bed.

With DD I made it to 7 months. I have much more milk this time around (minus 5 days when I had the stomach flu and had to work on uping my supply again) so we will see how long this time around. My goal is 6 months for now.

I BF and have been pumping so DH can give her a bottle in the evening. I should start pumping more to build a stash, but haven't yet. I've been really lucky to never have any supply issues.

Planned: bf for one year. Ended up: bf and pump, we had some seriously cracked and damaged nipples and mastitis which prompted the pumping and it just works in our schedule so we combine nursing and bottles of BM...goal is 6 months of exclusive BM

I BF and have started pumping again since going back to work a week ago. I pumped a lot in the beginning when Noah was in the NICU for 2 weeks. I hope to keep this up for at least 6 months, ideally a year. I have about 5 gallons of frozen BM right now and am continuing to add to that, so I'll be able to supplement that if my supply drops or I stop nursing sooner than planned.

Planned to EBF for 1-2 years, but Z has too many allergies and health issues so we FF exclusively with hypoallergenic formula. Not loving the $40 a can price. Blah.

FF. I EBF for 4 weeks until I ended up in the hospital for 3 days with the worst case of mastitis they have seen and almost had surgery. Stopping breast feeding was part of my treatment and I was so happy with that. I'm still not fully healed but little one and I and DH are sooo much happier.

Jealous of all the EBF mommies. I so wanted it to work out for me..but LO wouldn't latch and then I kept getting cloggs and mastitis from EPing.

Now I am on day two of stopping cold turkey..and let me tell you it hurts so badly. My boobs are rock hard. I'm wearing a sports bra and taking ibuprofen ... Can't wait for it to be over.

Pat least my son got BM for two months. At least I tried. Still sad though. It's very emotional.

I'm mostly BFing and pumping occasionally. I just finished a weeklong, 7hr per day class where I was pumping so DH could bottle feed. He also brought her to me every day at lunch so I could BF once.

I occasionally pump when I have a clogged duct but I don't do it very often anymore.

Ff a-super disapppointed. Im a sahm right now and i was really hoping to ebf this time. With dd i never got milk. With lo i got milk and was super excited. BUT even though he was getting a ton (based on his output) he lost too much weight so they had me supplement, i ended up having to completely switch. Very sad day.

I planned to BF and did so while supplementing for the first 2 weeks. My milk never fully came in so she is FF now. We tried and and that's all we could do.

I started out EBF however my DH just took a promotion at work that is relocating us from NY to FL and until we move DH has to travel weekly down there. Having a 2 1/2 yo plus a newborn plus returning to work plus trying to pack up my house and prepare for the move I just couldn't keep BF'ing so it had to end so we are now FF'ing aside from an occasional bottle of BM from the stash I managed to freeze. It sucks but it's the best option for my sanity while DH is traveling.

FF. I tried BF but he just wouldn't latch for some reason. He had a lazy suck according to the lactation consultant in the hospital but anytime I tried (other then when the LC stopped by my room) he just screamed his head off and wouldn't latch. So I pumped and FF for the first 3 weeks then just gave up because the output was really low. I'm talking 1oz from both breasts total all day.

EBF and pump to get a freezer stash. Plan to for a year. We had to give dd 12oz of formula the first week until my milk caught up but thankfully things are going well now!
