Do you sneak snacks into the theater? My mom is the most honest person I know and we always snuck snacks in. I've turned out to be pretty honest too, but definitely held on to that little bit of rule breaking.
As DH and I stopped at Walgreens on the way to see Lincoln the other day, I was feeling a little guilty. Not that I was brining in candy, but that I didn't know if that was the example I wanted to set for DS or not...
I took a bag of kernels in once and made my own popcorn while i waited in the concession line. I can't answer for candy ethics, but as far as popcorn ethics goes it's BYOB (Bring your own butter).
Does the no outside food or drink thing still apply? I thought it was cliche 70's stuff and only seen on TV. I have never seen a sign saying that.
It totally does here. I won't do it in our local theatre, it's not a chain and owned by a local. Plus the kid taking tickets looks like he wants to do a pat down.
I remember when the big theatres wouldn't let you bring in big purses or backpacks. I just shoved everything in the inside pockets of my jacket. Thank dog for winter.
My favorite movie theater is in a mall that has a Cheesecake factory. The best date nights DH and I eat at Cheesecake factory and get cheese cake to go. We then walk into the theater with all our other bags and take home food. If I am going to eat ridiculously overpriced food while watching a movie I want it to be GOOD over priced food.

My mom is also one of the most honostly people I know, but we always used to sneak in candy! When I go with my DH tho, we never do but we usually go out to eat first so maybe that's why!

Now I want cheesecake. Instead I get hard boiled eggs. Boo! Curse you trying to eat healthier!!
Also did anyone ever sneak in cans of pop but them try and cover up the opening sound with a cough? It never works and you always feel like that is the loudest sound ever.

Rookie. Twist top, and you crack it before you go in.
We always brought food in. The theaters near me all have signs all over the place saying no outside food or drinks. But my feeling is that they charge so much that they're encouraging people not to buy it there. I've also been known to sneak a cup of starbucks under my coat (they will otherwise stop you here) because they don't offer coffee and even if they did it would be nasty coffee. If they don't offer an equivalent I don't feel bad in the least bringing my own in.
I sneak in candy, but I almost always buy popcorn and a drink at the theatre. I go to the movies about once a year (maybe twice), so when I go I don't really worry about the cost. I just want to enjoy myself and I LOVE movie theatre popcorn and a giant fountain soda!
I just have a really hard time rationalizing a $4 bottle of water.
My nanny kids and I bring water bottles unashamedly. I've only been given a hard time once, and I pointed out that it was no different than if I were bringing the empty bottle in and filling it in their water fountain, and that I'd gladly go dump out all our water and do so (even though public water fountains for the most part = ew to me and I really would never) if that would appease them.
We always sneak in snacks. Usually "trail mix" that's heavy on m&m's and mini marshmallows, but I've been limited to kids movie matinees for the past 5 years more or less, lol, if I were sneaking stuff in for me you can bet your butt I'm going in with a sub stuffed in the sleeve of my jacket like my uncle and aunt do on Friday date nights.
I have never snuck anything other than tic tacs and gum into a theater. And that's only because they were already in my purse.
Disclaimer: this is not because I am a goody two shoes, this is because I suck at planning ahead, and my purse is super small, so by the time i think, "hey,we should sneak candy in..." it's too late cause i have no where to hide it.
My mom used to make us lay down in the backseat and cover us with a blanket when we went to the drive in movie.

We do not, only because I worked in a movie theatre when I was younger. The theaters make almost nothing - literally cents per ticket - on the ticket price. 99% of it goes to the studio. If you want to support a local theatre (I.e. not a national chain like AMC), then the snack bar is the only way they make money. Therefore, I would never sneak in snacks at our independent movie houses here. I don't want to see them go under.
Re: Movie theater candy ethics
Also, I don't sneak candy in. I just walk thatshit in.

Jealous!

Also, 59 left.

Ok, glad I'm not the only one who thought "no, but I've snuck in booze before!" Mostly in high school or college. Mostly...
