The food post below has me wondering how many people have given LO peanut butter. My pedi is all hippie but not when it comes to peanut butter. She said absolutely not until 2 but is pressuring us to wait until 3. N is such a picky eater, giving him pb would be so easy and wonderful. We don't have any food allergies so I'm surprised she's being so strict.
argh. The bump isn't letting me click on the poll tab. I guess it's the old fashioned way: yes or no?
Re: Peanut Butter poll
Nora's had PB just a few times, but she didn't seem to like it all that much. I will probably just try to continue giving her some here and there to see if she likes it. The first time she tried it was about a month ago.

Neither DH or I have any allergies but both my kids have eczema and it is a precursor to allergies.
Yes, DS is getting peanut butter. Your pedi is not up to date with AAP's recs and current research. Withholding peanut butter (or any allegenic food) will not keep your child from being allergic to said food. Either the child is allergic or they are not...period. Given this, we decided just to give DS peanut butter now.
ETA: The pedi also said that at his 1 year appointment that there were no more food restrictions for him.
We get ours from Trader Joe's !
I also believe some say to wait because your 1 year old can't explain themselves. My DD was able to tell me that it was " spicy on her tongue" as soon as she put it in her mouth. And Benadryl is usually the first step in relieving it and babies aren't supposed to have it.
If you are at all unsure then wait. It is just peanut butter, it isn't that big of a deal.

You're right, it's really not that big of a deal in the big picture but he's a terribly picky eater and still in the 710th percentile for weight. Peanut butter seems to be in line with the other types of food he will eat and lunch time is so.damn.hard. peanut butter is full of fat and protein and way less expensive than an avocado every afternoon. My goto was scrambled eggs, when he wouldn't eat anything else, and now he won't eat those. I'm running out of ideas.
And I am a big whiner. Sorry :
At our six month appointment, we didn't see the regular pedi. Sub pedi told us we could start peanut butter at that point. We started at sevenish months.
Then, at the nine month appointment, pedi asked why we had started so soon. Face Palm.
Oh well. We give it to her now and then with no problems.
