Another birth control question from me

I just called my pharmacy to refill my pill and they told me my OBGYN sent a different prescription in--20 mcg instead of 30 mcg. Do you think it will make a difference in side affects to have a lower dosage?

I'm sure I'll have to be more careful about taking it every day, but wondering if it might make me a little less crazy (or a little more...yikes). My hormones seem to be flying all over the place these days. These days being....the last four years.

Anyone have experience with different dosages affecting things differently? I'd call my OBGYN, but I really hate their office and am hoping to find someone different for my next annual.

Re: Another birth control question from me

  • I would be on the watch for breakthrough bleeding. I went back on my normal combo BCP (I was on it for over 8 years before getting pregnant) in November when I stopped nursing Audra and every month since then I have had breakthrough bleeding. It starts during the second week and lasts until the placebo week is over. My OB won't change me to a pill with higher hormones until it's been 3 months so the beginning of February. I guess my post pregnant hormones are much different!

  • I take the lowest dose combo pill available.  My OB had to keep bumping me down because I would get morning sickness like symptoms from standard dosages.  The nausea and vomiting are considerably less with the low dose pill so your side effects my lessen as well.
