Infantino carriers?

I went baby shopping with my mom a few days ago and we were looking at baby wraps. I was checking out the ones that I had done some research on- the store had Moby Wraps and the Baby K'tan. I got a chance to try them on and I really liked the simplicity of the K'tan. They didn't have any in my size but offered to order one.

My mom then insisted that we go to Target because she wanted to show me the "normal" carriers that they have that are supposedly much easier to use and safer. They had a bunch of these Infantino brand ones on sale- I could probably get two of those for the price of the K'tan.

For a more traditional "carrier" style, I was looking at the Ergo and the Boba. But my mom is right, the Infantino is way cheaper than either of those too. Has anybody ever used one? Do you recommend it or not? This is my first time doing all of this and I refused to buy it until I had done more research- and asking you guys is one of the priorities! TIA.

It depends what type of Infantino carrier you are looking at. Some if the Infantino carriers are not very good. I have the Infantino wrap and tie and I love it. I also have an Ergo and yes I do like the Ergo a little better but the Infantino is way cheaper and I can wear my 9 month old very comfortably in it. My friend wore her 2 boys in it until they were about 2 years old. If you are on a budget I would recommend the Infantino wrap and tie.

I have the ergo style infantino, and I like it a lot! I use it probably 2 or 3 times a week.

Ditto the Infantino Wrap and Tie - it's great for the price. The "normal" carriers that just have shoulder straps and dangle your baby by the crotch? Those suck. They're hard on your back and not as comfy for baby. They can only be used at all up to about 15 lb. It's a waste.

If you're on a budget, look at used carriers. I bought online (from diaperswappers.com forums as I was shopping there anywere). There are other swap sites online where you can get a deal if cost is your main concern.

If you are on a budget, try Craigslist. I got a moby for 15 and a ktan for 15 as well. I also just got an infantino Mei tri for 10. They all look brand new. Then we can see which ones baby likes. We also got an ergo on eBay for 40 not a fake, came with registration card.

I usually lurk over here, but I have an Infantino Sash (mei tai) and love it. It's about $35 at BRU. I wanted a mei tai and picked that one because I could register for it (at that time Moby's and crotch-danglers were all Target had).

I love both my Infantino carriers i have a ergo style one but the one i use daily is the Infantino Sash (mei tai) its so comfortable and i can wear her all day its amazing

Another vote for the Infantino Mei-Tai, I like mine. MH uses the Ergo style one and he likes it too.

LO is 15lbs, so far it is very comfy. When she gets heavier we'll see.

I would 100 stay away from any carrier that doesn't have a hip support for you or that dangles the baby by the crotch. I think within five years they will not be able to sell the danglers because o the harm they are doing to little babies backs and hips. Ergo is my number my number one choice.

I have the Infantino Flip and it was ok. It goes up to 30 pounds and it converts from a front to a back carry. I wish I could get the "lumbar support" to sit on my hips better to hold LO's weight. It's a crotch dangler, but my feeling is that if you're not going to have LO in it all the time, it's not going to cause damage. If you plan on always wearing LO, you might be better off with another style. For when I've used it it was fine for my purposes, I never tired when wearing it, but again that was mostly shopping trips of no more than two hours. I haven't worn DD in a while since she's now mobile and prefers to walk when we're out (I'm lucky right now she's really good at holding my hand)
