I tried giving DS avocados today. He did his level best to get them down, but after a few bites, he wasn't opening his mouth anymore. When I went to put the bowl in the sink, he threw up all of what he had managed to swallow. I've read that you're supposed to offer new foods something like 7 times before you decide they really don't like them, but I don't know how often to offer it. Once a day? Wait a few days? I need to figure out how to store all these avocados I bought! lol
Re: Hates Avocados
Make the avocado food WITH banana. My LO also hated avocado. Once paired with banana, she loved it.
You store them by first making the avocado/banana food and then freezing the portions in either a baby bullet freezer storage thing, ice cube tray or little glass bowls (at least that's what I use).
All of this. Try mixing it with something else. DS loves avocados and carrots. Try making something and freezing it if you aren't going to use fairly soon. Avocados only stay fresh for a few days after buying them. So the sooner you make them the better you will be. (and save money having to buy more!)
I believe it's about 15 times before they like it.
I try about once a week or so after I've had a bad result twice. often the first time LO was given something they acted like they didn't like it, but then the next time they were perfectly fine with it.
Throwing the food up.... that sounds like it's more than just not liking it. The flu is going around as well as a tummy bug, so that may be the cause up the up-chuck.
Also, depending on how old or how long you've been feeding DS solids, you may want to try letting him feed himself the avocado. DD doesn't like it pureed, but really liked it cubed where she could feed herself. Otherwise, make yourself some guacamole.
LO doesn;t like it, but she ate it with pear.
YAY!
