We have been on every formula possible and DS cannot tolerate any of it. I googled goats milk, rice milk and coconut milk. Anyone have success with any of these? He is only 5 months old.
My daughter had an intolerance to milk protein from birth, I couldn't even breastfeed the poor baby without her getting sick - our options included goats milk and Alimentum (expensive, but with a prescription, much more manageable - and free with WIC with a doctor recommendation) which is a hypoallergenic formula. She handled both well and outgrew her allergy at around a year old. I have a nephew that developed his allergy later, around age 2, and the rice and coconut milks work fine for him.
At 5 months your baby should only have breast milk OR formula. None of the other "milk" alternatives are appropriate until he is closer to 1.
Nutramigen and Alimentum are the over the counter hypoallergenic formulas. If your son can not tolerate those then he needs to be on a prescription formula such as neocate or elacare. You should talk to his pedi about this.
ETA: I just saw your other post and how he can not tolerate Elacare. Try Neocate next. You need to speak to a specialist asap if those are not working for him.

Isnt Neocate just the other brands version of Elecare? Like Nutramigen is Enfamils version of Similacs Alimentum? Unfortunately, specialists take off for the holidays also. My next step is to drive to Children's Hopital, walk in and say, please help!
Well technically Nutramigen and Alimentum are different. They are made slightly different, which is why some babies can tolerate one and not the other. I've also heard the ready to feed Alimentum is easier on really reactive babies.
How long as your lo need on Elacare? How is he reacting? It can take some time for their system to heal.

Any of the dairy alternative milks (rice milk, almond milk, coconut milk, hemp milk, soy milk) are not to be given to babies under the age of 1 as a replacement for breastmilk or formula. Those dairy alternatives do not have all of the nutrients a baby needs to grow and develop. After age 1, you could give LO one of those milks, but you have to make sure they're getting most of the fat/nutrients/calories they need from solid foods, instead of relying on the dairy alternative milk for that.
