breech or not

So I am 38 Weeks and my doctor has not said one word about me being breech or not. I am seeing all these comments about scans and moms who know where there baby was positioned at 32, 34, 36 Weeks. I keep forgetting to ask my doctor, I am going back on Thursday. In the meantime do you think I should assume the baby is head down because I am so far along and he hadn't said anything?

Re: breech or not

  • You might be able to get a good idea yourself from looking at spinning babies.com. Otherwise I would say don't stress. Your OB should be on top of that. Of course I would ask at the next appointment.

  • Yeah I would just assume baby is head down and ask at your next appointment.  I would imagine that they would be talking to you about c-section by now if baby weren't in the correct position.

  • I heard if you feel baby's hiccups low in your belly he's probably head down. Sure, he feels them in his diaphragm not his head, but I felt my baby's down low and it turned out he was head down, so....

  • Before I had DD, my midwife never mentioned her being breech or not so I assumed she wasn't breech. She wasn't, but she was posterior.

  • They should be able to feel position by feeling your stomach.  I'm surprised they haven't said something one way or the other, but I guess I would assume no news is good news.  I know baby is head down, but I even ask every time whether she's facing my back or not and they're able to tell me (although I usually think I know this too, it's more of a confirmation than anything).

  • my baby is frank breech and i feel her hiccups down low in the bottom of my belly bc that's where her chest back is. And i can feel around my belly and always know where her head is bc it's the hardest part of her body. I'm labeled "high risk" so I get regular ultrasounds throughout my pregnancy and she has been breech at every one i've had since my anatomy scan. I get them weekly now to measure growth and fluid levels.

  • My baby is footling breech and she kicks me hard in my cervix and bladder all the time so I know she hasn't flipped. I started measuring bigger than normal all of a sudden so my doctor sent me for an u/s which confirmed she was breech. We are scheduled for a c section on the 10th
