Useless Clothing

Does anyone else not use onesies? We have a ton of short sleeve onesies that have never been worn and likely will never be worn. I have stored the ones that are now too small, but we still have a bunch that are 6 months. I find them to be just about useless. I much prefer the one piece outfits with long sleeves and legs with feet. Maybe in the summer she will wear them but so far she has not. People keep getting us onesies and I feel bad because we just aren't going to use them. We have only ocassionally put her in 2 piece outfits. They are cute, but just not as functional as the one piece footies. And FWIW, socks and infants just don't go together, IMO. Anyone else feel this way about onesies?

Re: Useless Clothing

  • This makes me laugh! I use socks and onsies every day. The only time we use footed outfits is for bed. Funny how we all have our preferences.

How do you keep their socks on? Lol. is there some trick I should know about?
  • Maybe it's where we live. We are in sunny south Florida and onesies were a life saver until the weather changed. Whenever it's warm, she goes in the onesies. If I put her in the onesies outfits with pants, she looks like a sausage. So those are useless! lol

  • Hmmmm, this is getting me to thinking... I wonder how difficult it would be to organize a clothing swap for july 12. Would anyone be interested? I'm sure we all have some stuff with tags still on that we are not going to use. Maybe if enough people are down, we could do a swap. WDYT?
  • Now that it's winter I rarely dress LO in short sleeved onesies.  She's always in long sleeves and pants (with socks) or a sleeper.  It's annoying that every single set from Carter's comes with an extra onesie.  We're in the same boat and have a bunch that will never be worn.

  • I use the one piece with footsie for jammies. I like pants with the feet but only have one pair. If we go out I put shoes on to keep the socks on.

Thats funny, I LOVE onesies and socks. I do like the one piece outfits too but we also put him in onesies a lot, maybe its because we live in FL and tend to wear shortsleeves throughout the year. Also Shayne is rarely barefoot.

Same here.  Onsies are great for FL weather so we use them all the time with socks and leggings.

I would totally be down for this. My MIL just got my son a bunch of things in 9months that are all winter clothes that he is probably never going to wear.

My MIL just got this for my son, keep in mind we live in central Florida.

  • I use onesies more than anything else! LO is still swaddled pretty tight at night though, and gets hot with a sleeper underneath so he just wears a short sleeve onesie and socks every night. He also wears them with pants and a jacket a lot so he can have layers to strip because he gets really hot in his cars eat even when it's cold out.

  • I'm with you, OP!  All my son wears is footed sleepers 24/7.  I really should put him in onesies + pants every now and again because he does have such cute stuff, but I hate for him to have bare skin between his socks and bottom of his pants (he's a long baby), so footed sleepers it is!

  • It's cold up here in New England, and DS wears a onesie under every outfit every day. It's a nice protector against blowouts, too.

  • Hmmm....looking at Ingram, he's in a footie sleeper now but I always put a T-shirt on under everything. We use lots of onesies. Socks too when we do little pants ... so cute!

I know seriously, she also got him a carters one piece outfit with santa on it in 9 months, he is currently wearing 6 month stuff. Ohh and lets not forget the thanksgiving outfit in 912 months, he will be 16 months next thanksgiving. She is so damn clueless sometimes. The best part is she even asked me what sizes he was wearing

    and what he needed. ARGHHHHH!//quote]
Yeah, my MIL gave S a halloween onesie on halloween that said "my 1st halloween". And a babys 1st thanksgiving outfit on thanlsgiving night, so those are useless. Lol
  • LO wears a short sleeved onsie almost all the time. Especially now that its colder, she wears one as her first layer then I put either a long sleeved tshirt or a long sleeved onsie on top. She only wears the pjs with feet to bed. During the day I always dress her in outfits cause she has a lot of clothes and I love dressing her up. She wears socks everyday too and usually robeez on top to help keep her socks on
  • Buy the socks so they are a little big :)...they'll stay on better
