Consolidating Naps?

Just wondering when your LO's consolidated from three naps to two? What did your nap schedule look like? Also, what were the signs that they were ready to do this? I'm tired of 45-60 min naps (sometimes less) and I'm ready for her to extend and just take two long ones???? TIA!

Re: Consolidating Naps?

  • There are days where my LO will do 2 longer naps, but also days where she does 3 depending on the length of her naps.  She started doing this all on her own so I don't have advice on how to make it happen.  I did start noticing there were days she would not nap on the way home from daycare and then would fight a nap at home and be fine until bedtime so that was one sign she did not always need an early evening nap.

  • Mine was always a crappy napper and I just decided to try it one day. Most days it works but there are some days she still needs that third power nap. Our schedule is:
Wake up btwn 6 and 6:20 bottle followed immediately by breakfast.
Down for nap btwn 8:30 and 8:45. Hope she sleeps till 1010:30 but that doesn't always pan out.
    Bottle when she wakes up.
Lunch at 12:30 followed immediately by bottle
Down for nap 2 btwn 1 and 1:30. Hope she sleeps till 3.
    Bottle at 3:30ish
Dinner at 5:30 followed immediately by bottle
In bed by 6:30ish and she STTN.

this helps! We have a similar schedule 7-7 w/ STTN. She starts daycare when I go back to work in January... Maybe that will help her to shift schedules.
