If LO is a girl, she does not need a pink room with dolls and lacey sheets/curtains. She does not have to wear dresses and bows all the time. She can still be girly without all those things. Our gender neutral nursery decor is just fine. Stop telling me I'm going to raise a girl to want to be a boy. We don't even know if its a girl yet!
Some stuff in the grocery store just doesn't taste the same when you buy the generic brand. My sister always gives me crap for this, but store brand ketchup is not the same as Heinz, and store brand macaroni and cheese is not the same as Kraft. Maybe I'm just picky.
As someone who thinks that mac & cheese tastes better when in the form of cartoon shapes, I appreciate this. Sometimes I prefer generic though, especially for applesauce.

Now I'm all for saving a dime but I agree! Although I have to say, Wegman's brand mac&cheese is amazing anddd only .35 cents a box?

Living in PA, there is no such thing as ketchup that isnt Heinz.
I plan on reusing the crib I bought used for my daughter who is now 4 years old. It is a drop side crib, but I figured if Riley survived it this baby will too. We plan on securing the crib so the side doesnt drop anymore. Problem solved.

I agree. Some things you can get away with generic, but some things I flat out refuse. Like the ketchup and the mac and cheese. Also, cream cheese has to be Philadelphia.

I was just talking about this with my dh. His mom bought/ buys all generic, when we go visit our first stop is the store to get TP, condiments and cereal. My parents had less money then his did, but we always had Kraft Mac n cheese, Heinz ketchup, and Charmin my mom said that giving birth vagginally six times meant she deserved soft TP.
I think the only generic I buy is frozen veggies and certain snacks for the kids.
My OU: I'm side eyeing all of my friends that are posting photos on FB of their Christmas gifts. That's awesome you got an IPad but I don't need to see a photo of the box.

Very popular opinion in my world. The nursery will be the same either way, and I have asked my Mom would it be tacky to include on the shower invitation "No bows bigger than baby's head!" if it's a girl. Ha. I'm not frilly, so I can't see being over-the-top, but I won't treat her like a boy either. I'll be OK if my daughter wants to play with G.I. Joes and/or my son wants to play with Barbies.
We lost our first (EDD 07/23/12) after finding out at 12 weeks there was no longer a heartbeat. Our rainbow was born 05/22/13 and was worth all we went through.

Same. I was fine for the first three months, but now I'd love a drink.

I am craving one of those bloody marys that is like a meal in itself (with all the good pickled stuff in it). And a beer. And a glass of wine. And maybe even a margarita.
After all the Heinz love, I have to say that one of my UO's is that I think ketchup is gross. Mustard and mayo are always welcome in my house, but ketchup is permanently banned.
My other UO: if you want a drink, have a drink. One glass of wine or a beer or even a cocktail isn't going to hurt anything. Just don't have all of those at once.

Cartoon shapes are the BEST!!
I agree with all of the above - Heinz ketchup is the only way to go. Everything else tastes way too sweet. I wish cartoon shaped mac and cheese wasn't more expensive. The frugal/cheap side of me hesitates and usually refuses to buy it
Going through this weekend without drinking, watching everyone else enjoy their pre-dinner cocktails and glasses of wine was much harder than I thought it would be. I am definitely planning on having a glass here or there, but I just didn't want the judgement from grandparents and aunts/uncles on DH's side this weekend.

I've found another mustard lover! I eat things like a mustard sandwich...just bread and mustard. It's kind of embarrassing, but still one of my favorites! (Especially with white Wonder Bread!!) Oh...the shame....

Me too. To all of the above. Also, I had a small glass of wine on Sunday.
Doesn't mean I don't want another one .

I really miss red wine. I have had lots of sips the last few days. Got quite the side eye from my FIL but I could not possibly care less, a few sips here and there isn't going to do anything.
You and me both. I would pour MH a glass of wine on Christmas Eve just so I could smell it. I'm due 6/25 and my birthday is 6/23, and you better believe if this LO hasn't arrived yet I will be having a glass of wine. One glass won't hurt. Besides it's my 30th, so it's a milestone, right?
I love my kids but I get so annoyed when other moms can only talk about their kids. I get so bored. I might be more aware with all the Christmas parties recently. The last one DH and I went to, I broke away from the women speaking and joined the men's conversation...so much more interesting. Why do women with kids only want to talk about kids or kidrelated topics?? Ok, rant over.

I'm not a big fan of bread and we don't eat it often but I only like white bread. My healthy attempt is to buy the one that says 2 slices equal as much calcium as a glass of milk.

Also I only like full fat milk.
My dh will only drink whole milk, since that's also what we buy for Ds1 and I don't drink that much milk, it's all we buy. It took me a long time to get used to the taste, now I can't stand skim which is what I grew up drinking.

Second, I am amazed at the number of people getting "early guesses" and predictions from the ultrasound techs. When I was on the boards with DS nobody was given early guesses. I realize that a lot of times the sex guess is confirmed later on, but still. I think all these posts of "we're team blue! we think. it was a guess. I'm only 13 weeks. But the tech is rarely wrong" and then hours spent scrutinizing the ultrasound pic. Just wait another month or two. (probably should've saved this one for FFFC but whatever).

Regarding the early ultrasounds, I have a feeling someone on here is going to be surprised when they have their anatomy scan.
This is coming from someone who had a 17 week ultrasound and was told girl. A couple weeks later, DS magically sprouted a penis.
Marigold Celestial Nostrils to save the day with glitter and unicorn farts!

One of my favorite things is yellow mustard on a toasted bagel. YUM.
Also, I used to be a total ketchup snob and would only buy Heinz. I now buy the Aldi brand and it is pretty dang good. I refuse to buy Hunts or any other generic brand.

Seems this is very popular, actually!! I could really use a beer. I'm not gonna lie, DH & I have saved a TON of money now that I can't drink. Going out to eat just isn't as exciting when I can't have a couple beers. So we eat at home a lot these days (which is a good thing).

Sooooo agree. Talk about impatient!
And yes, booze. I wants it. I didn't have this problem with my first pregnancy. I think the 2 year old factors in a lot though lol.

I actually had that thought, too. You know it's funny, last time I couldn't stand the smell/sight of any kind of alcohol. This time? I am seriously missing my wine. And maybe a beer. And a mimosa. Ugh. lol
All of the family gatherings since thanksgiving have really made DH and I reevaluate our priorities. We have decided that just because people are related does not mean that we should be obligated to spend time with them, especially if they only bring negativity into our lives. At a certain age it's okay to protect yourself from it. Just because they're related does not mean that is who you need to spend your free time with.
I can think of several different friends that I would much rather have spent my days with.
I feel like I could rant for days about family. I'm just so thankful that we don't have any obligatory things coming up any time soon. DH and I are much happier very independent from our families.
Summary: I don't think being related should make people an automatic priority in your life. If they are awful, spend your time somewhere else. Life is just too short.
