High-Risk Pregnancy

Sick, how long to wait?

I'm now 32 weeks preggo and I've been feeling kinda crappy for the last 2 days, achy, sleepy, nauseated, and  extremely sore throat. With my OB and GD specialist off for the holidays till Jan 3rd, how long should I wait before I go to a walk in clinic? I'm not the type of person to just run to see a Dr with the sniffles and feel as though this type of sickness would be inconveniencing most people in the medical profession. But with GD, I wasn't told of any precautions to take or what to do if there were problems during the holidays.

Re: Sick, how long to wait?

  • If it was me, unless I spiked a fever >101 I'd just stay home. Fluids, rest, and eat good even if you don't have an appetite. I have little spurts where I feel like I"m getting a cold or the flu but nothing ever actually develops. The doctors can't do anything anyways and a lot at the walk-in clinics won't even touch you when pregnant anyways, they don't want that liability...

    Hope you feel better soon!

  • If it gets bad, I would just call one of them.  They should be responding to calls even if they don't see you and can tell you what is safe to take.

Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
