Not constipation... Yeah, TMI

So my LO just dropped in the last couple of days and I've basically been staying in bed due to lightning crotch and bladder issues...

All that I can deal with... I'm lucky that things are still moving for me as I've heard a lot of ladies mention constipation. MY problem is, everything's moving, but because of the compression of things from the baby, I'm having trouble getting things past the finish line if ya know what I mean. I don't consider it constipation because it's not intestinal, but it's still very uncomfortable. Painful even.

Is this happening to anyone else? Have you found anything that helps?

I've been taking colace the last 48 to help with 'future' issues, but that doesn't help me right now! :/

  • Staying in bed increases bowel issues. As a nurse, getting patients active is the number 1 way to keep them regular.

Yep.  Get up and walk around, stay active.  It's the best thing to get things going.  FWIW when I worked in cardiac ICU we would have people up and walking the day after open heart surgery-now THAT had to hurt!  Activity is the best thing for your body, especially now.

Another thing to keep in mind-the baby dropping isn't the reason for the inability to get things out.  If you think about it some people actually poop while the head is coming out, which is a lot further down than the baby is right now.  Get up and walk around for a while (I would walk somewhere if you can-even around the block) and see if that gets things moving.  Good luck!

  • Drink tons of water. Seriously.

  • Rest your elbows on the sink so you can lean forward at like a 45-60 degree angle and sway your hips. That should help take pressure off your backside and might make it easier to go.
  • Drink tons of water and try to eat at least one salad a day - raw veggies definitely help with moving things along.
