Gator, in her pillowcase dress, would like to tell you haters to "suck it!" image

I feel like the under and shirt and jeans makes it look like a cute tunic and not a $45 potato sack.

I don't like pillowcase dresses either. I also judge myself for paying $40 for DD's first tutu when I know I now can make one in a about 15 minutes for about $5. You know what I judge the people who sell them for that much too.

Yeah but they are cute usually and not having to make them is worth the money, they are a pita!

They are cute! I don't think they're too hard to make though. You know that annoying V-tech walker mentioned in the toys post.

I used it to do this

    then this

    and end up with this

Except minus the cute kid ;)

Lol! We have that walker. I have tried making tutus but halfway through I get frustrated and give up. Plus I can never find anything other than white tulle in the precut rolls and I don't want to have cut a million strips. There's a local lady here who sells them on facebook and I just wait until she has ready made sales and buy them for cheap.

That's a good idea ;) I used the rolls and cut them myself but I did it like this.

    image

Wrapped the roll around a piece of cardboard used two rubber bands and then cut it on both sides.

     image

Not that you asked for a tutu tutorial or anything :P

Ohhh I bet I could get MH to cut it for me with his jig thing he uses to make jewelry and paracord stuff.

:-) I would have gone mad trying to cut each individual strip. :P

I hate the New Year's Resolutioners at the gym. I am dreading them coming in and taking up all the machines and all of the room in the fitness classes from January - March.

It's great if people can actually make a change and become committed to exercising regularly, but the reality is that most of them give up by March.

It is so funny that is our slow time at the bakery.  We always say March is the month people forget about their diets.

I understand that with the CT shooting that people are scared for their children and generally on edge. Until this happened I had never even heard of bulletproof backpacks, and these things cost anywhere from $200 on up. The company itself states that they would not have offered the protection from the weapons used in that shooting, only tactical SWAT gear would have. To me yes I want my child to be safe, to feel safe, but one even if I could afford such an item, my expectation that my child would actually be able to grab it in time to try and shield themselves is slim to none. I think the money they would spend on said backpack would be better used to help buy their school a better security system. Assuming that enough parents felt the system at their school was inadequate and wanted to help update it. I know even then it's not foolproof, but it's better than nothing.

I am by no means slamming those individuals who have purchased this type of equipment, peace of mind is a powerful thing, and it's worth any price.

My kids have to store their backpacks in their lockers, anyways.  My sister is a 6th/7th grade math teacher. She has also placed 2nd in the state for woman's rapid fire shooting.(before switching majors she wanted to go into the FBI)  She would love to pack some heat in her classroom.

I love wrapping presents too! I wrap as I go though because I don't love it enough to do it for 3 hours.I let my kid sit on Santa's lap and took a picture even though she was crying.I think people who are using the CT tragedy to push their own agendas should be ashamed of themselves. It is so disrespectful to those who were actually impacted. I don't like pillowcase dresses either. I also judge myself for paying 40 for DD's first tutu when I know I now can make one in a about 15 minutes for about 5. You know what I judge the people who sell them for that much too.
I hate wrapping presents and have a ton yet to do. You're more than welcome to help if you want. You just have to get through a blizzard here.

I would love too! It just stopped snowing here but the wind is still howling. The windows are rattling. I'm sure it will start back up again shortly. It was pouring down rain all night and then started snowing. I have no idea how cold it is but I'm pretty sure it's going to be slick under that snow!

You must live in the midwest too, because I was up all night listening to it pour rain. Now we have literally a foot of snow in our driveway.

Under your name it used to say the town you live in. I think I commented before that I live sort of near there. Our public school's mascot is the Chief if that gives ya a clue to where I am ;) I usually sleep like a baby (terrible saying) during the rain but unfortunately my baby was awake five or six times...so I was up too.

If I'm thinking correctly, you are about 40 minutes or south east of me and close to another state.

I'm WAY late, but bored so here's mine:

I grew up in a town that was known for it's weed. It used to drive me nuts because no matter where I went in the US, if I told people I lived here, they would ask if I had any weed on me! I smoked it a lot in high school, and then stopped. DH and I smoked it a few times and had a blast, but it's been a few years now. Sometimes I miss it :)

I don't own one, but I love the pillowcase dresses.

    Here's my own:

I don't like it when hear people on TB call their LO's names. Just because they might be acting bratty, doesn't make them a brat. Or biitch, assshole or whatever you call them. Just makes me sad and wonder if they say this to their face.

Also, I'm still putting pumpkin spice in my food, and probably will for the next 5 months Smile

ITA, and in real life.  Like when someone says "oh he's such a bad kid".  No, he's a kid making a bad choice.  There is a difference.

They're the puffy sleeves of the 2000's.

  • Ah, I get it. Yes, agree those are terrible.
