We actually decided not to exchange since there is nothing we really need and we just bought a generator (and my goodness are they expensive).
Is he into sports teams? That was always my back up. If nothing else I could always get him something Steelers or Yankees and he would be a happy camper.
Socket wrench set from me and a mini remote control helicopter from DS. We also just got new phones so those were a combo anniversary /Christmas present.
My husband is such a kid. My stepson is getting a DSi XL (I think that's what its called) from DH's dad/stepmom and DH was JEALOUS! Seriously?! Anyway. He wanted a DSi so he could play games and play against his son.
He has practically been drooling over the box since we got it because I won't let him open it now.
On the other hand, DH bought me a sapphire/diamond bracelet and necklace. They are beautiful and I absolutely love them! But...how do I get the point across to DH that I NEVER wear jewelry? I have tried to make that clear several times, but he just keeps buying me jewelry for birthdays, Christmas, anniversary, etc. I just feel bad because I really only wear them on very special occasions and I obviously can't wear them all at the same time. Oh well...they are gorgeous none the less!
DH has a kinetic watch, so I got him a watch winder for when he isn't wearing it. Also got him a cocktail book, a Star Trek tshirt and a cloth caddy for when he brings beer to his friends' houses.

DH and I never exchange gifts. We usually make reservations at a nice restaurant and have an evening out at some point during the holiday break. I'd have no idea why to buy him if we were to exchange.
This is me and DH. We haven't exchanged gifts since we got married, and I honestly don't mind. We usually have a fun date night together instead, or splurge on something we need as a family and have that be our gift to each other.

This is such a good idea. I think I am going to suggest this to him for next year! I think he might have already gotten me something, so it's too late this year. I am such a procrastinator!
We bought a house with a garage this year... MH has been putting off creating his "work area." So, I got him some pegboards and pegs for his tools, a wrench set, and folding table (he's always borrowing our neighbors).
I may also get him a golf organization/storage thing for the garage as well. His stuff is all over the place.
We weren't going to exchange because we're *hopefully* buying each other a house in the next couple weeks, but he went ahead and bought me something anyway. So I bought him a trash holder that will slip over the back of the passenger seat of his car, and a travel food warmer that will plug into the cigarette lighter outlet of his work truck. He drives a very rural route, and he dutifully takes the same damn two sandwiches for lunch every.single.day. I figure this way, he'll be able to take soup or burritos or something that would normally require a microwave.
My family is doing secret santa this year, since we're all on tight budgets. I drew my dad, DH drew my sister. But he did make a super bonehead move last week that had me sobbing, so I think he may be getting me something to make up for it, so I'm going to get him something, too (more of a "sorry for being such a hormonal wife" than Christmas gift). I'm trying to go practical; he's been having trouble sleeping, and although he loves his memory foam pillow, it makes his head sweat a lot at night, so I'm getting him one of those polar pillows. I also got him a $50 iTunes card and Albertsons card for his bday (Dec.22) since he's addicted to his iPad and loves to cook.
Well... since our TV died during last summers bad storm we decided to buy a new tv for our gift. We also told our 10 year old she had $50 to spend on me and $50 for her dad. We each took her shopping for the other. It makes for a very special day out for each of us with her... she gets one on one with us while buying special gifts for us. We do make a list to give her ideas.
We decided to pay off our tempurpedic mattress for our Christmas so we have no debt before the baby comes. Sorry I'm no help My H is super hard to buy for. His parents are getting him more vitamins and protein powder for his stash lol (he's a bodybuilder/gym rat guy) I can't imagine having to think of a Christmas gift and a birthday gift so close together. Good luck!
I got DH a pizza oven for his shop, he mentioned getting one a few times, so I hope he likes it. I also got him two dress shirts and I'm planning to buy him a pack of carwashes (he is OCD about our vehicles being clean lol).
My DH is the hardest to buy for because he'll never tell me what he wants, and he really doesn't need much. His birthday was at the beginning of December, so I got him a laptop bag for the new laptop we just replaced, and a couple of baby books for dads (one serious one, and one is the Barney Stinson Bro Code for Parents) and then we went out to dinner.
DH just bought a dumpy truck that he can use for work and fix up as a hobby.. So I bought him new speakers and radio he can install in it. I also just got him some clothes he doesn't realize that he needs..
We don't get each other presents because everything is so expensive here (as I have complained about many times before )
This year my DH suggested we go see a concert on the 26th, Kevin Johansen. Super excited because I have wanted to see him in concert for the past 5 years! He used to sing a lot in NY but I missed it and now that he is living here he gives concerts more often.
(To give you an idea of what I am dealing with re: prices.

Plain polo shirt - retail US$50, similar one here but poorer quality US$100 to US$150

DH is the hardest person in the world to buy for. What's worse, is
his birthday is in two weeks, so I have to come up with something else
soon too.
I'm beginning to panic a bit. Hoping maybe some of your ideas will spark something for me!
I'm in the same boat...DH's B-day is in early Jan. I ended up getting him a wallet, some snow boots that look like work shoes from J.crew, a shirt, some head phones he wanted for his phone and tickets to Glengarry Glen Ross on Broadway...not sure if I'll be giving him everything for Xmas and buying something else for the b-day or not. I just have no idea what else the man possibly needs.

I got him the Dominator 2 side steps for his truck. He better like these bad boys.
Your little hands wrapped around my finger and its so quiet in the world tonight
Your little eye lids flutter cause your dreamin so I tuck you in, turn on your favorite night light
To you everything's funny, you've got nothing to regret
I'd give all I have hunny, if you could stay like that
Oh darling dont you ever grow up, dont you ever grow up, just stay this little
Oh darling dont you ever grow up dont you ever grow up, it could stay this simple
I wont let nobody hurt you, wont let no one break your heart, no one will desert you
Just try to never grow up
My DH is the hardest to buy for because he'll never tell me what he wants, and he really doesn't need much. His birthday was at the beginning of December, so I got him a laptop bag for the new laptop we just replaced, and a couple of baby books for dads (one serious one, and one is the Barney Stinson Bro Code for Parents) and then we went out to dinner.
For Hanukkah, I mostly got him little things... some shirts, some camping stuff, some manly shower gel and lotion. I got him a stuffed Eeyore - because everyone always tells him he is like Eeyore, and we both like Winnie the Pooh stuff - and it was his favorite present.
He gets a stocking on Christmas too, so I got him so more little things, some scratch tickets, and a gift card to a restaurant we both like.
I do that too. My SO is Jewish and I got him something for Hanukkah, but he also gets a stocking for Christmas.
We had an $80 budget for each other this year. I got him : a jacket I saw him eyeballing at Target, a pack of work socks (thrilling, I'm aware), a sports-related book he wanted, and still had $15 left over- I put that on a Lowe's gift card since I know he'll be getting larger amount gift cards from family members and he is wanting to replace some of his old tools.
My husband turns 30 on the 31st of this month so I have been giving him one gift a day for the thirty days leading upto his birthday. I haven't even thought about a gift for Christmas because I have been so preoccupied with his birthday gifts. Hopefully he won't care because he has been getting really nice things all month.
We have a wet bar that is totally unutilized so I'm transforming it , I got him a beautiful liquor crystal decanter set, beer mugs and margarita glasses, a salt/sugar rimmer, whiskey stones, martini shaker, bottle opener ( I'm still looking for a wine rack ) , and then some cologne. Can anyone think of something I'm missing? I usually don't go all out but I didn't get him much for his bday , plus he always spoils me bcuz my birthday falls on Christmas day and he doesn't want to gyp me. Only bad thing is I can't partake in his gift oh well I'm much happier with what I have growing!
DD (19 months old) is giving him a toaster oven. I threw out his 20 year old toaster oven(which he loved and I hated) and told him we are never getting another one...I think I'll put something on the card like "because Mommy said no..". I think he is going to be super excited about the toaster oven.
I LOVE my Tempurpedic... But I have a zero interest loan on mine so I don't mind carrying that debt. It would have been nice to dump some money into our home equity loan that we dipped into to put a new roof on the house this year.
Instead... we decided to remodel the basement before the baby comes to a) give me an office since I am currently in the "nursery" and b) give us another place to hang out comfortably.
DH asked for a drill. His old one was a hand me down that finally quit and since he has to put together lots of new baby furniture I thought this was fairly practical. He picked that out on Amazon and so I pre-ordered the new bond movie and put the confirmation in his stocking along with a candy bar and a bag of pistachios. I'm getting a stroller and car seat so really I think he's making out like a bandit.
I told DH that I didn't want to exchange because we got a new dishwasher. But he's like, what about a $50 limit? Then goes on to tell me how much he needs a new drill. Of course all decent drills are $99 and above, so i ended up getting him a drill and drill bit set ($139). Then he goes at tells me he spent $250 on me. SMH
Welcomed our baby boy Henry on March 15, 2013 (7 weeks early!)
DH LOVES LEGOS. In fact, I think he is convinced that these boys are going to pop out at 10 years old and ready to build a Star Wars Death Star replica with him. Since he won't get 10 y/o twin boys for.... oh another 10 years... I got him a Legos Star Wars kit. A TIE fighter? Pretty sure that's what he asked for... to match his X-Wing I got him for his birthday.
What a dork.
Oh and a remote control helicopter. My husband is 12...

Ugh, Bananers, I feel you. My husband's birthday is in December and there is always so much pressure (that I put on myself!) to get awesome gifts.
I love an experience gift, so for his birthday we are headed to Seattle for the night tomorrow to see Louis CK. Without our kid!
For Christmas I got him a new watch as the face cracked on his current one. I also got a bunch of stocking stuffers and a book for him.
