We plan to give a gift to spill the beans on Christmas day. We are going to get a mylar baby balloon and wrap in a box. I think I will have my mom open the box.
I will be 6 weeks 2 days I think.
Anybody else planning on doing this and how do you plan to tell your fam?
Re: Anybody spilling the beans on Christmas?
We are doing the Christmas reveal to our family too! We took a picture of hubby kissing my belly and a big red bow around my belly with a gift tag that says "no peeking until August 2013". We are so anxious for Christmas to get here!!! We are wrapping it in a frame and having our moms open It. We are 6 weeks tomorrow.

We are telling our families on Christmas with a special gift.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/117878352/you-are-going-to-be-a-grandma-babyWe had them made up as shown, but with things like:
grandparents again!
uncle again!
auntie again!
great-grandma again!
I can't wait to see their reactions when we give them to everyone.
We are getting t-shirts made for my mom and dad that say "Greatest Grandpa/Grandma in the WORLD" The plan is to have them open at the same time, and record the reactions.... I can wait, this is our first so it should be pretty exciting!

We are telling everybody on Christmas, too! It has been so hard to keep it quiet for this long.. I can't hold it in any longer!
My sister is a photographer, so she took a picture of DH, DD and I. DH and DD are holding a chalkboard that says #1 on it, and I am holding one that says "#2" on it with an arrow pointing down to my belly. We found the idea on Pinterest!
I can't wait to see everybody's reactions when they open it up!
we are telling on Christmas. I will be almost 9 weeks. Only two of my BFFs know right now. It is the first grandbaby on both sides, so I expect a big reaction.
We wrapped gifts for both of the grandmothers and it will be a surprise when they open them!
When you've been married this long, you need a ticker to remind you.

Expecting Baby Bean February 2017
We are planning on telling our parents and siblings at Christmas. I will be exactly 6 weeks on Christmas.
We took a picture of a bun in the oven with my husband, my 2 year old daughter, our dog, and me in front of it and we put our due date on the back. We plan on having everyone open the envelope at the same time with the picture in it and see their reactions! It's been hard to keep it in! I've known for almost 2 weeks now! So exciting!
Yes we plan to assuming all goes well at u/s tomorrow.
For IL's they told us that everyday since our loss, they have prayed that we be blessed for a child. So, like pp, we'll probably get MIL the book Please pray for me Grandma and I will put the u/s photo on the inside cover with an inscription along the lines of "Thank you for praying for me. Your prayers were heard and will be answered come August 2013. I can't wait to meet you. Love, Baby Last Name".
For my parents, I was originally going to do a personalized photo calendar and then on the due date put the u/s photo however I think it's too late for me to make one and get in time without costing a small fortune. Oops for slacking. So, I'll probably do a photo frame or something instead...

tritto! im only 4w5d today so am waiting to tell. we are spending xmas with my parents and then wont see them again in march. i 50% want to tell tell them on xmas and 50% want to wait till after my first appt, but my hubs 100% wants to wait to tell people so that pushed me to wait.
guess we'll be telling them over the phone sometime in feb!
These are all great ideas!
We originally wanted to share the news on Christmas, but we couldn't wait. We already told our immediate family and closest friends. I know it's early, but I would rather have their support if anything bad were to happen.

We bought a big brother t-shirt that DS will open on Christmas morning at my ILs house.
I'm planning on having him wear it when we go over my parents place later that day and just seeing when they notice.

We're telling my parents - we have a picture saved on the laptop we bought my dad, we're holding up a sign with the good news on it.
I'll be almost 7 weeks by then.
We won't tell my ILs or the rest of the family until first tri is under our belts.
hi there, sorry to stalk, but im new to this BMB and just looked at your siggy for the first time, i ran 3 of the same races as you in the past year. i assume you are in the DMV area as well?!? if so, howdy neighbor!
We'll be telling both sets of parents and our siblings (both younger and live with our parents).
The idea so far is to put a picture of the u/s in a cute baby-themed frame, wrap it up nicely and tell them it's a family gift that they need to open together. I'm debating if I want to photoshop the u/s pic to include a cute message on it (Coming August 2013 or something...)
Everyone has such fun ideas!
YAY! We're at the same day as you!
I'll be 6,2 on Christmas, but we're telling family anyway. I've already nearly died about a hundred times not telling them so far.
We are doing a game (it's a board game called Headbands) where they have a name on their head that they have to guess while trying to give clues for the others to guess. We were going to do that game anyway and we got the official game last night by chance! So- everyone will have their new title (grandma, etc) on their heads but won't be able to see their own so they'll all be looking around confused.... and when they look to us we'll say "Oh yeah- we forgot ours" and we'll put up the mom and dad ones. We're both pretty excited!!!
We are spilling the beans on Christmas. My husband has been making custom wooden jewelry boxes. I have typed a cute poem that I found announcing the pregnancy. I have baked the papers& prospective end, rolled poem up & tied with two ribbons, pink & blue. They have been placed inside the boxes.
Since our families live all over, we have put on the packages Don't Open Until Christmas. We haven't gotten any calls yet.
on Christmas I will be 7 weeks 2 days.
We are! We realized that when we waited to tell our family about our last pregnancy they didn't get to enjoy the time with us, so this time we are telling early. I will only be 5 weeks on Christmas day. We are going to tell my sister and ask her to give them each an appleseed and we will watch their reactions on skype when we tell them it's how big our baby is.
For DH's parents we are going to just have a jar of Prego sauce and hold it up to the camera and tell them we are thinking about having this for dinner for the next 9 months.

My husband really wants to tell our families on Christmas, but I'm reluctant. This is our third baby and although we've had two healthy pregnancies, we usually don't share with anyone until after our first doctor's appointment. We don't go until January 10. I like the idea of telling them on Christmas, but I wish I knew things were okay first.
We are telling on Christmas too. We are planning on giving everyone DS2's 9 month photo:
Do you have Walgreens in your area? I did a bunch of photo calendars and they were printed the same day. 20.00.
We have an u/s scheduled for Christmas Eve, so assuming all is well, we will be telling Christmas Day 7 weeks 2 days.
My family does a dollar store grab bag with all useless, ridiculous gifts. I am going to wrap a Big Sister shirt and see who opens it.
For my inlaws, I bought my MIL a family tree from Things Remembered. I filled all the hanging frames with pictures of her kids and grandkids and left one frame with a note that says "Coming August 2013."
I haven't even told DH yet, and it's killing me, but I want to surprise him on Christmas Day. I've got a little onesie I had printed with "Daddy's Little Hobbit" (yeah, we're big geeky LotR fans) and I'll wrap it for him to open Christmas morning. I want to ask my DD to record him opening it, but not tell her what it is. Should be fun, if I can just muster up the willpower to not spill the beans before then. It'll be a long 6 days!
DH's family are huge and boisterous and it would be so much fun to tell them, and my family would be so thrilled too, but I'll only be just under five weeks so I'm really leery. Maybe just tell DH's mom and my parents? Not sure I guess!
