DH and I are outside earlier today putting up Christmas lights. A woman, who I am assuming is the daughter of the older couple that lives across the street, pulls her car into their driveway. She then sits there for about 30 seconds or so, smoking her cigarette. Next thing I know, I look over and she's taking her kids out of the car - a little girl who is about 3 and a little boy who was maybe a year old. And not only was it bad enough that she was smoking in the car, but I really don't even think she had any of the windows cracked.
While I realize that this is totally none of my business and has no impact on me, it really pissed me off. I seriously wanted to walk over there and tell her what a selfish biotch she is. Those poor kids' little lungs!
Re: Vent: Smoking in car with baby/kids

I totally agree with you. Sometimes I really have to bite my tongue in public when I see moms and dads smoking in cars with kids. Because you can bet if they are smoking in their car with their kids, they smoke in their home with their kids. So basically their children are involuntary second hand smokers. It makes me sick. If someone is blessed enough to birth a healthy child, how are they selfish enough to subject that innocent little person to chemicals and carcinogens?
I hate seeing it too. And while I know it's none of my business I always want to say something to the parents. It's just plain selfish to subject your kids to cigarette smoke. My Dad has always smoked and when I was about 7 I had a really bad issue with coughing, the Dr said I may be developing asthma and that it could be from smoke exposure. So from then on Dad stopped smoking in the house and in any of the vehicles.
It is in California as of January 2008.
