C was diagnosed as anemic at his 6 month appt. Pedi wanted us to continue with the vitamin drops with iron at 7 months. At around 9 months, I started to freak out when I thought his teeth that were below the gumline were stained. They told me to discontinue the drops. Thankfully, the teeth were not stained, but I didn't go back to the drops. I just continued to try to give C as much iron rich foods, along with foods with vitamin C-that aids in the iron absorbtion. When I discussed this with the Pedi at C's 12 month visit, he said that he was only slightly anemic, and that I don't have to restart the drops.
When I went to the LC, she was strongly recommending I get Aidan's iron levels checked. He was pale and his hands and feet are always like ice.
Alastair is pale too and always tired. Not as cold. But just off. Since they both get breastmilk and my iron is terrible, it just makes sense.
Now, we called the doc. Nurse said to give Ferinsol. I call back about dosage. She said whatever is on the box. I ask the pharmacist when I pic up the stuff, who tells me not to fyck around and ask the doc. I call back and she tells me to give them formula. And that they don't do blood tests in babies.
I lose it and call the private line since the doc is DH's godfather. I leave a msg. Kinda still expect her to wall and me not getting anywhere. So I kinda want to collect info.

what the nurse said would have pissed me off. Gator got both her iron and lead poisoning checked at her 12 month appointment.the lead was because we live in a house built before 1950's. but the iron was because I was worried about it and the Ped told me he thought she was fine but would get it checked to give me peace of mind.

Ha ha (about the nurse!)

What's going on?

We get good care if we need it but I feel we have to fight for preventative stuff sometimes. Not even with the doctor but with their staff.
Or maybe I just don't know how to work it yet.
