Hello all! I haven't posted on this board in forever! Do any of you follow the paleo diet only occasionally? I know that I am lactose intolerant, but it seems like the majority of everything else I eat makes my stomach hurt. (Not to mention the super loud rumbling which I frequently experience. ) I know that I need diet changes but I also know that when I try to make a drastic change I get frustrated and give up. So, I'm thinking if I start trying to eat a meal or two a day following the paleo diet it will make the change less stressful. Any advice or recommendations? Also, any book suggestions? TIA!

I would assume that even small changes will help you. I did primal eating for a while before getting pregnant (baby loves carbs!) and I started by doing just dinner, then lunch and dinner, and finally gave up carby breakfasts. You can go gradually, no harm in that!
I was a lot more Paleo prior to being prego, but am still mostly gluten free. I discovered I was gluten intolerant when I went Paleo a few years ago. I still have some rumbles from the carbs, but limiting the gluten has helped.

i'm probably 60% paleo for this pregnancy (my first). i have done stints of 100%, but it's really hard for me. lost a lot weight that way, though. don't want to lose weight right now, though. i still do dairy and too much sugar, but i'm GF at home (not so much when i go to someone else's house or out to dinner). last night was awesome though -- venison, broccoli, and sweet potato fries for dinner -- although i did have some parmesan on the broccoli -- it's always something!
When I blow my Paleo, I get the worst gas. It just serves me better to stick to it.
There's no harm in easing into it. The 80/20 balance is a great place to start. Or, phasing in by meals is also a great plan. Just make sure you set yourself up for success!!
Re: Paleo only occasionally?
