Seriously this is NOT happening!!

I go back to work for the first time since Sept. 19th, in 3 hours. I woke up this morning with a massive headache, chills, body aches, and an unbearable sharp pain in my left breast. Like can barely touch it type of pain. I sucked it up and tried to pump, but only got 2oz out of it. There wasn't a lump before, but now it feels like my entire breast is getting harder. I'm thinking this may be Mastitis. Oh and DS is ebf. I feel like I'm running against the clock to get some relief before going back to the place I like to refer to as Hell. I took a long hot shower and tried pumping. Nothing is really helping. Anyone have any ideas or tips to help with some relief? Please? I would really appreciate it! Thanks ladiesSmile

  • Mastitis is nothing to mess around with. Call your ob asap. I got it with my first. I started chills and fever around 10:00am and by 3:00pm I was being admitted to the hospital with 104 fever and barely concious. I was in the hospital for 2.5 days.

If you have fever that means there is an infection and hot showers won't fix that.

Call your OB. Get a script ASAP.

    Also, hot shower then pump/nurse.

Thank you.Yeah, I'm going to have to let Jacob nurse it. Ugh  Just pumping hurt like hell. This will be interesting, but soo worth it if it helps.

  • One more note in addition to what has already been said:

My LC said to make sure that when you nurse do two things. First make sure you have a HOT washcloth over the lump to help open it up while nursing. Also make sure your LO's nose is pointing towards the lump while he/she eats. It will more effectively drain the area.

    Good luck!

  • Agree with previous posters. The good thing is that once you start taking antibiotics, you'll feel SO much better within 24-36 hours.
