We "quit" at 5 months, but the last week he has been in bed all night with me. We both really enjoy it and are having a hard time quitting. Usually he sleeps in his bed until 3 and then cuddles with me until work.
I think if R ever starts to STTN that is when we will stop. But with him waking 3 times to eat still I don't see it happening.
H and I are going to Mexico in January for a week and his Mom is coming to stay here, I don't want them co-sleeping so sometime between now and then I may put him in the crib more often.
I love cosleeping though, we are such good cuddlers.
I loved cosleeping, but we stopped (for the most part) around 4 months. DS was waking up so often, and I was pretty sure I was waking him up. He sleeps much better in his crib but I usually bring him into our bed at 6am because at least 1/2 the time, I'll get an extra couple of hours out of him.
If DS is having a rough night, I'll also bring him in- it generally helps him sleep a bit better..
Sammy transitioned about 5 months. Maliyah has already made the transition; she sleeps better by herself. We do cosleep when she's fussy or going through a growth spurt, though.
I would like to stop by 6 months, but I think I'm going to have a harder time with it than DD. I love the cuddle time. DH is already ready to boot her to her own bed.
We will until DD STTN. Right now she wakes up halfway through the night and we put her in bed with us until it is time to wake up. She will sleep for a long time if she is snuggled up with us.
We're slowly transitioning. I put DS in the co-sleeper in our room for as long as possible each night, and then he ends up in our bed when he wakes up after 3:00. WHen he gets to only waking up once per night, I'd like to move him to the crib in his room.

We are still co-sleeping for most of the night. At about 1 month I started putting DS to sleep in his crib and then bringing him into our room in the co-sleeper. At about 4 months he started to wake up at night when I did that, it took me a couple of weeks to realized that was what was waking him up. Now I just leave him in his crib till he fusses and wakes me up. He then stays in our bed or the co-sleeper for the rest of the night.

I think about moving her into her own room every time we have a bad night...and every morning when she turns and looks up at me and smiles and coos, I change my mind. Probably will keep her in with us for a while; I doubt I'd sleep any better with her farther away. And I doubt she would either.
I've been co-sleeping with my son since March '06 and my daughter since Feb '07 (and my newest daughter since Nov. 14!). I will continue to as long as the situation works for all of us. We love it, even if others think we're crazy
Re: Co-sleepers - how long will you do it?
