I've been experiencing these strange-feeling rhythmic movements from baby (a few times a week, lasting for a few minutes at a time). Definitely not hiccups, which she does too, but they have a syncopated rhythm and a break in between. These are steady, heartbeat-like rhythms (which look like a pulsation that I can see in my mid-belly).
I did a search to see what the internet pulled up and was surprised to find lots of women commenting on this and wondering what it was. Anyone else had this sensation?
I have no idea who this blogger is, she sounds pretty crunchy, but her theory is that it's in-utero practice breathing...

Re: In utero practice breathing?
I'll add, when I say "felt" I don't mean I can feel it internally the way I feel hiccups, but more like if I put my hand where I see the pulsing, it moves against my hand.
Me too!
