Diaper rash tips.

Bare bum time, baking soda bath, vaseline, Sudocreme, even some polysporin. Nothing is making this thing go away and my guy's little nads are now bleeding.  Ideas?  Jock itch cream maybe?

Re: Diaper rash tips.

  • Lurker here.  We use a cream that is behind the pharmacy counter at walmart called Resinol.  It works wonders.  It is my supercream when nothing else works.  It was recommended to me by other moms.

Unfortunately you have to call in an order they typically don't have it on hand and it will arrive the next day.  It doesn't have to be perscribed though.  Worth a shot it has gotten rid of some nasty diaper rashes for us.

  • I'm so sorry his nads are bleeding Sad G used to get really bad rashs and the only thing that helped was a $70 compound (formula I had to get made at a specialty pharmacy)

  • Is it yeast or just a regular diaper rash?  (white raised bumps or just red angriness?)

For a yeast, my doctor prescribes Nystatin.

For regular, just A&D - although when LBB had a REALLY bad diaper rash (we also had the bleeding scrotum) the doctor gave me a topical steroid to use sparingly (once a day) for a couple days which helped clear it up quicker.

  • We did butt soaks in warm water with baking soda and a shot of vinegar with every diaper change. Worked. We followed up with bag balm, that helped a lot too.

When Aidan had the worst rash with bleeding, we did a prescription cream which I later found out is basically the same as jock itch cream. It was gone in three days.

And last but not least: hydrocortisone. Those nasty teething poop rashes went away waaaaay quicker.

    Good luck!

  • Yep, add the jock cream like clotrimazole or miconazole for lady parts works well too. We've been dealing with a nasty ulcerated rash last week that didn't respond to conventional creams and we started neosporin, clotrimazole and triple paste and within a day of that, it cleared up.

  • Long time lurker here! We had the same issue with my lo. Months of bleeding rashes, prescription cream, every remedy in the book. Nothing helped. She ended up being allergic to pampers. Switched to Huggies and one day later, the rash was gone. Maybe try a brand switch?

Please excuse any siggy strangeness. I'm on mobile and can't remember what it even says!

  • A few of my friends were talking about a really bad diaper rash that was sticking around, they tried everything but no relief. Her grandma told her to try corn starch, she did and now it's the only thing she uses. Cleared it right up, apparently lots of older generations swear by it!

  • yeah, Google yeast infections and see if that is what it looks like.  if it is, the creams/ Vaselines are only trapping in the moisture and that won't help it to dry out.  you do need an athletes foot type cream, Lotrimin or the generic of it. GL! my daughter gets these all the time and they are a bltch to get rid of.
