What is your elf's name?

What is your elf's name?

I know some of us have "Elf on the Shelf" and I was wondering what you named your elf and why?

Re: What is your elf's name?

  • We got our elf for O's first Christmas from my BIL. O wasn't even a month old so obviously way to young to name our elf. DH and I had a name we both liked  for O but knew the families hated with a fiery passion so we named the elf that instead. Our elf is named Seamus. It's the name we told everyone during the pregnancy when they wouldn't leave us alone about a name and the name that if we had been more gutsy would have been O's name, lol.

O always yells "There's Seamus!" when he finds him and it is super cute.

  • We got our elf for Christmas the first year M was around, but we have yet to pull him out. I think he'll get it more next year. I really can't wait, though! He's gotten SO into all things Christmas that I think this will be one more fun/exciting thing!

P.S. I really like the name Seamus! One of my cousins is hell bent on naming his first born son that!

  • We are going to start it next year and let J name him. DH didn't think he'd be into it this year but I can't wait to start!

We're keeping it really simple this year. Every morning we find the elf, that's about it. If O asks where he went we say he was talking to Santa. Next year we'll get more in depth but for this year we have fun looking for him.

  • My MIL got one for A for his birthday this year.  We are holding off til next year.  I want A to name him and I don't think he would really understand this year.  I can't wait to bring him out next year.  He came with a book too about how he goes to tell Santa what has been happening.  It should be a lot of fun next year.

  • J got his elf on Thanksgiving this year from his grandmas.  We rattled through a few names and when we hit Joe, he got excited and said "Joe?"...so Joe it is.  He LOVES looking for him and gets quite excited when finds him.  He laughs sometimes when he finds him if he's doing something he finds amusing, like when Joe was reading one of his favorite books, or when he was hanging with Mickey and Elmo.
  • We don't have one! What's the tradition behind it?

Basically an elf comes to your house. Every night he returns to the north pole to report to Santa how you were that day. When he comes back he is always in a different place so the kids need to find him.

If you look on pinterest there are lots of ideas for elf shenanigans.

  • This is our first year with the Elf. It took the triplets FOREVER to name him. Jason and I had to start throwing out ideas and they would say yay or nay. We ended up going with Percy. This is also the name of their fave penguin from a Cat In The Hat episode.

Yeah what my DH said LOL  DH failed to mention that Joe gets the most love in the house right now.  In the mornings J doesn't ask for mama or dada anymore, nope...  First word of the day is Joe and he doesn't care what we need to do he has to find Joe first or he is displeased.  If you tell him behave or Joe will tell Santa he melts down in front of Joe like he's begging him not to tell.  Pretty adorable stuff LOL
