GTKY - How did you meet your DH/SO

I met DH 13 years ago. I had been desperately trying to cut ties with my physically abusive ex and just kept putting up with crap. A few co-workers were headed out to a bar on a Thursday night (I never went to the bar) and for some reason I said yes. As I was leaving my ex showed up and asked me to go out, ordinarily I would have said yes, but for some reason I said no.... this never happened, it was surprising.

I went to the bar and there was a guy I sort of knew, so I started talking to him. He was out with a guy he met skydiving and it was literally love at first sight.

I started talking to DH and he was everything I wanted and more. He was independent, intelligence, strong, attractive, funny... in short, a miracle and just what I needed. He taught me what it felt like to feel safe, and I never fell for my ex's crap after that. Actually, it was DH that convinced me to finally take out a restraining order and press charges. He supported me through what could only be described as a year of "drama and baggage" and we now have an amazing life together.

My former best friend was dating DH's nephew. (Long story, they're really only 9 months apart, I guess he's technically a half-nephew?) She introduced us after I got out of an almost 3 year relationship. I didn't like him too much at first, but by the 2nd date, it was all over.

Now she's out of the picture, but I have the man still.

Short story: DH was in a band with my BFF's (then co-worker) now ex-husband and I had gone to one of their gigs.

Long story: I go to said gig and DH is wearing a highly inappropriate shirt which I comment on because I thought it was funny. He leaned across a group of people to introduce himself. I then introduced him to my then-boyfriend and he dashed off. We hung out in a big group a couple of times over the year or two and admittedly I had a crush on him. I then broke with up with the forementioned boyfriend and DH helped move me out of the guy's house. About a month later, DH and I started dating and were inseperable.

DH and I met at a wedding where his childhood friend/best friend married my sorority sister.

I was drinking and sick of accidently flirting with engaged men, so my friend and I had the DJ call all the single men to the dance floor for tagging and identification. DH was the only one who came out and I called dibs. The rest is history.

DH and I met on an online dating site. My sister and I set up my profile at about 4AM on New Years Day Morning (we were a little drunk? and by little I mean a lot). Apparently, it worked- both of us only communicated with each other on the site? and the rest is history.

Dh and I met when I was 15 and he was 17. We were introduced through a mutual friend and then began to talk on myspace eventually he got enough courage to ask me out and here we are today Big Smile

We were co-workers and got to be good friends. We were both going through divorces at the same time and ended up becoming more each others support systems. I really wasn't into him being newly divorced, but he's a wonderful man and I couldn't stay away.

We were both playing at the same open mic... We ended up on stage together that night and people came up and asked us how long we'd been playing music together (it was pretty magical)... From that musical partnership came friendship and soon thereafter romance.

We still play together, though finding time with a 15 month old is tough!

We met in college. I thought swing dance and he was dragged to a class by his roommate who was chasing a girl in the class. We started dating a few months later and moved in together after 3 months.

FI, his sister and I all went to school together. He was a couple years ahead of us but his sister and I were in the same class. We had actually been on and off friends since 2nd grade and danced together, it wasn't until my sophomore year in high school that FI and I actually started talking and it was actually one of his friends that was actually interested in me, I had zero interest in the friend though, so FI kind of snuck in and got to me first... and I'm pretty glad he did So we've been together since then.

We also met online, which turned out to be silly since a) we lived a block away from each other b) we'd both just moved to the city after finishing grad school and c) I was the librarian at the library he frequented. I like to think we'd have met anyway, given some time.

We met in high school marching band. We started dating when I was 15 and he was 16. We were an awesome pair of band geeks. We went to college together, and were married at 20/21 after living together for awhile. Now the baby will be here when we're both 23. Sometimes I can't believe how lucky I am to have met the love of my life so early. The cute can be sickening, though. :P

We met in marching band and started dated at 15, went to the same college got engaged at 20 and married at 23. Now expecting baby #1 at 25

We met in vet school. He was in the class ahead of me. 2 of my good friends were dating 2 of his good friends, so he asked them to set us up. They all broke up within the year but we have been inseparable since the first time we hung out.
