Intro and Support Belt question

Hello!

I've actually checked this board out a few times since maybe August when I had a few free minutes.  I wanted to introduce myself but couldn't remember my bump password, so finally requested a new one.

I'm due mid-Feb with our first little one (a girl).  Hubby and I are already in love with her.  Its great watching my gruff and grumpy caveman light up when Spawn (what we call her) plays 'tag' with him.

What made me finally get on and post was this, I just got a maternity support belt.  I already have back/tailbone/hip issues from before becoming pregnant and was lucky enough to only be in mild discomfort up until about 3 days ago.  My OB told me to get a support belt and the only one I could find in-store and ready to be bought on the spot was from Motherhood.  But I have a few questions that I can't find the answers to, like... Am I supposed to only wear it for a certain number of hours per day?  Can I nap and/or full-night sleep in it?  Any experience with this ladies?  Or maybe point me to a helpful website?

Thanks in advance :D

Re: Intro and Support Belt question

  • I have a pregnancy belt. Have you worn it? It seriously sucks to sit with it and be comfortable, I wouldn't sleep with it on. I think you can wear it as much as you feel comfortable. I wear it during my "busy" times or when I'm on my feet a lot. I take it off when I'm relaxing or sitting for awhile. You didn't ask this but don't wear it right on your skin.

  • Aye, the manager at Motherhood actually got down on her knees and put it on me in the store.  I was in terrible pain (its toned down a bit since yesterday).  I work 12 1/2 hour shifts and I keep having to adjust it when I sit then stand and vice versa.  I just wanted to make sure wearing it my whole shift, plus getting ready time and getting home time wasn't too long to wear it for.

Thanks for the 'don't wear it right on your skin" tip, I kinda figured that one cause of all the seams but I still appreciate it.
