Any BTDT Moms with Anterior Placenta Last Time

I had an anterior placenta during my pregnancy with DS1.  I never got to feel him kick, or move much at all.  Toward the very end of the pregnancy, I was able to see my stomach move a handful of times, but that was it.

I'm really hoping that this time around, I won't have the anterior placenta and that I'll get to experience the flutters, kicks, movements, etc that I hear are so amazing.

Did anyone else have the same?

Re: Any BTDT Moms with Anterior Placenta Last Time

  • I had an anterior placenta with DS and didn't start to feel movement until 20 weeks or so. During the third tri, I definitely felt him moving quite a bit... and could even see him punching/kicking from the outside. I never really felt him "roll" -- my sister, SIL and I were all pregnant at the same time and both said their babies "rolled" -- I don't know if I just didn't know what the feeling was or if my anterior placenta had anything to do with it.

Fingers crossed that you get to feel more movement this time around!!

  • Yep me!  It was frustrating with DS1 to feel him move so rarely... on the upside, he didn't keep me up all night with his kicks so that was nice.  And I liked to think the anterior placenta offered him a little extra protection.

This time around, convincing my 2 year old to not jump on me is proving to be a challenge... so it probably wouldn't be the worst thing ever if this baby had an extra cushion in front too.

  • I guess DS was only partially anterior. We were able to hear he HB early (8 weeks) and I could feel movement pretty early (15/16 weeks), but DH couldn't feel them til much later and I never saw movement.

I guess it'll be pretty cool to see, but I haven't really thought about it. Honestly this whole pregnancy so far is "okay, I'm pregnant" instead of "yay I'm pregnant!!!!".

  • With DD, I had an anterior placenta and didn't feel her move until the 20's.  But once I hit the 30s, everyone could see her move.  I could lay a file on my stomach and she would kick it off.

DS I had a normal one (?) - not anterior.

#3 I have a partial anterior, it's over to the front right.  I can feel movement but now I know what I'm looking for.

  • I was told that I had an anterior placenta last time, but didn't really experience anything different than most moms on TB in regards to movement. I think I was around 18 weeks when I felt kicks, and 21 when DH could feel them from the outside.

  • I had an anterior placenta last time. I'm not sure about this time, but I am hoping its posterior.
