I know everyone is different but I'd love to hear from the STMs who had a vaginal birth when you were due with your first baby vs. when you actually had the baby and whether or not you were induced (this is my biggest fear!!)....
I went into labor on my own, water broke, was dilating, admitted to the hospital, but had some set backs (epidural after crying through contractions for 4 hours, then pitocin another 4 hours later, pushing, baby in distress, then an emergency c-section). DD was born 5 days before her EDD.
I was due on Oct 4. Was not dilated at all at the previous weeks appointment and my Dr. was nervous so she scheduled me for an induction the following week. I went into labor on my own at about 3am (well at least that's when I woke up from the labor) and baby was born on Oct 5 at 11:30 am. Once I got going, things progressed very quickly and it honestly was a very easy labor and delivery and she was only 12 hours late. Hoping for the same experience this time!
My water "ruptured" 5 days before DD's EDD. By "ruptured" I mean that only a little tiny bit of fluid came out (maybe the diameter of an orange), nothing like in the movies. However, I knew it wasn't discharge or pee (not yellow and didn't have a smell) so DH and I decided to go to L&D to get checked out. They did the amniotic fluid swab test and it was positive so they said we were delivering the baby that day. Since I really wasn't contracting on my own, they gave me pitocin and that is what got things going.
I always wonder if I had not paid any attention to my water rupture and not had gone in to L&D and not had been put on pitocin, how much longer I would have gone without labor starting.
I was due on October 16th, my DD didn't arrive until October 23rd at 41 weeks.
My delivery was easy as can be, no pitocin or anything to help out (I did have an epidural). I had labored at home all day on a Saturday with what I consider mild contractions. They weren't bad at all and I could talk through them no problem.
We got to the hospital at 9:30pm and at 4am I had my daughter. After pushing for 20 minutes out came baby
Went into labor naturally on the night before my EDD. About 7-8 hours in (totally a guess) they broke my water just to move things along because I hadn't progressed much. After a whopping 11 hours of labor (from first timed contraction to delivery) I had my boy, on his EDD.
My LO was early. Due June 18th, went into labor May 24th. I know this looking back, wasn't sure it was labor at the time, thought I was just uncomfortable. Went to the hospital at 6pm on May 25th and he was born at 3 am on May 26th.
With DS I was due Jan. 31, my water broke on Jan. 22, and he was born 11 hours later at 6:30 am on Jan. 23 (39 weeks). I didn't receive pitocin until after he was delivered because of my fibroid. I had an epidural, pushed for 2.5 hours and ended up with 4th degree tears, but DS is healthy.
I was not induced. I was due Jan. 18th., started having contractions around 8-9 pm on Jan. 19th, got to the hospital around midnight and delivered vaginally around 9:30 am on Jan. 20th.
Due date was 4/19 and I had to be induced on 4/25 due to low fluid. Induction wasn't bad at all. They used a foley bulb to dilate me and labor began on its own without pitocin.
I agree with OSC, there are many things scarier than being induced. I was due 10/30, was induced on 11/1, and had her within 5 hours. I pushed for less than 20 minutes. Not all inductions are horror stories :-)
Damn. That third kid is just going to slide right out of you! I'd be heading to the hospital at 38 weeks 6 days just in case if I were you
Edit. Quote fail. Mrs. Leah
Hah! I know, right?! Slightly concerned my hospital is 30 minutes away and I try to labor at home as long as possible.
One trend I'd rather not see continued though, is that DS2 was almost a full pound bigger than DS1. From 7lb 4oz to 8lb 2oz, I really hope that LO#3 isn't a 9lber!
With DD I was due 7 13 and was induced on 7 17. I had GD so they didn't want me going more than that. My induction was easy and wonderful. I went in a 7am and had her at 530pm. I was about 2cm dilated when I got there so that may have helped a bit.
Ava was right on time. I had what I consider to be an easy birth. I went into labor at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning (timeable contractions that felt like strong period cramps). Went to hospital at 10 a.m., admitted at noon, epidural at 2, had Ava at 4 a.m. on Monday, December 13, which was my actual due date.
Hannah was due 2/7 and was born on 2/10 @ 9pm. I went into labor naturally in the early morning hours of 2/10. Water broke as soon as we got to the hospital. Labor was long, but I only pushed for 15 minutes.
I should also add that when I had made ZERO progress when I went in for what would be my last weekly checkup. I wasn't effaced or dilated AT ALL and my Dr and I had even talked about my induction date. Then a few days later, my water just broke. I wasn't contracting on my own though, so I ended up needing pitocin.
Same thing happened with DD2, only it was 3 weeks early instead of 3 days.
On a side note, I was elated when my water broke with DD1. Not because I was tired of being pregnant, but because everyone and their mother kept telling me I would go late, that no one ever goes early with their first child, etc. Ha!
Went into labor and water broke 6 days before DS's due date. After 19 hours of labor, including 4 hours of pushing DS was born later that day by Csection. He never completed turning and got jammed up in my pelvis. After all that pushing my cervix started to swell shut.
I was due October 29th with the twins. I was induced on October 12th because the ultrasound showed they were both over 8 pounds and I was huge and miserable and hadn't slept in two weeks. My doc had mercy on me.
I had them FINALLY on October 14th vaginally after multiple epidural fails, lots of pitocin, two vacuum extractions, and four hours of pushing. I shudder just to think about it.
But...they were perfect, healthy, big, and I took them home with me the next day.
Hoping this little one slides right out haha!

You should check out this link! You plug in your due date, and it tells you the percent likelihood that you'll deliver on any given day:

Due 6/13. Born 6/2. Induced for HBP.
For my sister's first, she was due 11/10. He was born 11/12, no induction.

THIS EXACTLY! I was due 9/25, water broke 9/27. Was induced and my daughter was born 9/28. Pitocin was not scary at all.

For whatever reason, I went into labor naturally with both of my DSs early and delivered at exactly 39w by med-free vaginal deliveries.
DS1 was a 26 hour labor with 17 minutes of pushing.
DS2 was a 15 hour labor with 4 minutes of pushing.
Hoping LO#3 continues some of the trend!

My BFP Chart
DD #1 was due 1/14, came on her own 1/11 after about a week of bed rest for pre-eclampcia
DD #2 was due 10/21, was induced due to her size 10/20 early morning had her that afternoon.
Fairly short and sweet both times but I have to say being induced was much worse than natural...especially with no pain meds.

DS: Arrived at 41w6d....he missed an induction by a couple of hours. 46 hours of labor but 6 minutes of pushing.

DD1 came 3 days early.
DD2 came 3 weeks early.
