The only real tradition we are starting this year is spending Christmas night/morning at home, alone. In the past, we have always spent that time with my family, but we figure this is a good time for us to institute something new. I'm sure there will be more as DS gets older, but we're starting with that.
I don't know. This is a huge issue for us, since we live away from both of our families. My family lives 2 hours away (but they all live w/in 30 miles of each other, including cousins) and his lives 3 1/2 hours away (and again all w/in 30 miles of each other). We always travel like mad on the holidays. this year won't be a big deal, or really next either, but we are already thinking about how "santa" is going to get a letter telling him DD is at grandma's on xmas eve and asking the elves to deliver some of her presents early. . . or similar.
We have a christmas tree farm right down the street from our house, so we went there this year and got our tree - DH cut it all crazy (halarious to watch him laying on the ground trying to cut this thing...) so we had to level out the cut. I kept the little stump (less than an inch thick), painted 2008 on it, sealed it, cut a whole in it and are using it as an ornament. We're going to do it every year.
Oh, and we go to my parent's house on Christmas in our PJs and stay in them all day (not the ones we slept in...well, except for my brother )
I'm sticking with our normal tradition--going to my parents' house Christmas morning and then to my Grandma's for dinner. Obviously DD is too young to notice, but next year will be different. We will mostly likely be moving to another state next year or the year after, so the traditions with DH, DD, and me will probably really start then.
We got DD a cute stocking that has a pouch on the front that says "Letter to Santa" so we'll have her write a letter every year and put it in there on Christmas Eve. And we'll save the letters for her.
DH's parents live in town, but my whole family lives 3 hours away. In the past, we always spent Christmas Eve with my family and then drove back for Christmas Day/Night with his.
This year isn't a big deal, but I'm wondering what to do in the future.
We have a couple we are working on: buying her a Christmas ornament every year that she can take with her once she moves out, donating money to WWF since they have a program where you can get a stuffed animal and information card with the donation so she'll get a different one every year, reading 'twas the night before christmas on Christmas eve.
DH and I have been together for 10 years, so our Christmas traditions are pretty much established:
the Saturday before Christmas, we spend w/ FIL & his side of the family. Christmas Eve is spent w/ MIL and her side of the family. Christmas morning we head over to SIL's in our pj's for breakfast and gift exchanging with our nephews, then dinner w/ my family. Whew We'll probably stick to this for the next couple of years, till DS gets bigger and we want to do Christmas morning at our house.
I'm not sure what we'll do, but one thought I had is to have a Christmas breakfast with just us since we'll be spending the rest of the holiday with the rest of our families.

I'm debating on this also.
