We, and everyone I know, does gifts from both. I don't think I've ever heard of getting gifts from just Santa. That is interesting.
Edited to clarify: Santa does the majority of gifts, then usually one gift from us.

I'll preface this by stating I was the only child (and grandchild) for 7 years.
My mom used to compete with Santa. As in, he couldn't leave more presents than my parents gave me.
Yup, you figure that one out. Christmas was always quite the celebration for me!
I only got gifts from Santa.
